I’m an office production assistant in main production. I’m a part of a three person pod: the VP, production coordinator, and me. Each exec is assigned shows that they oversee. Mine currently has five. So we are responsible for setting up writers rooms, overseeing budgets and schedules, and...
I graduated (officially) in May 2021, during the pandemic. Our ceremony was in August. During that time, I had LOTS of interviews, but because of the pandemic, things had slowed down at most of the production offices and studios. But I kept in contact with my internship contacts, and I actually...
Hi guys! This forum was so helpful to me back when I was applying, so I try to remember to pop back in here periodically and offer any tidbits, knowledge, or advice for any incoming Chapman Television Writing and Producing MFA candidates. Or anyone thinking about applying! Any burning questions...
Chapman does allow students to take courses outside of their discipline with no raise in tuition. So that’s an option. I always recommend auditing them or taking them pass/fail to other grad students. I’m sure it’s no different than most film schools in that regard. It’s honestly the production...
Hi! I’m about to graduate from the graduate TWP MFA program at Chapman but I do know a bit about the undergrad program and know a couple of the undergrads in the program so (hopefully) I can give you a little insight. And the biggest question you might need to ask yourself is if you’d rather...
Film/TV Producing students are producers. And Film Production students are everyone else (directing, cinematography, sound design, prod. design) with the exception of screenwriting students and TV writing students. So under Film Producing, you’ll pick a specialty.

What’s been your favorite and least favorite class?
My favorite class is a class that you’ll take in your second...

I just completed my first year in Chapman’s TV Writing & Producing program! Just wanted to lend a helping hand or offer any insight or advice if anyone had any questions about the program, the online transition, or just what it’s like here in the OC. Hit me up! :)
Just seeing this! But so far everything has been great! I love Chapman and I am in a really great cohort!
It's been crazy busy with a lot of writing (duh, lol) but I honestly love it. My teachers are so helpful and knowledgeable. It's clear that they want to do everything to ensure we all...
I was admitted to Chapman this year with no “experience”. I didn’t study screenwriting or film in undergrad. Since my focus was on television writing, I spent time breaking down scripts and teleplays to get a handle on the format. And I wrote. When I had a chance to take screenwriting workshops...
I didn’t have any film experience, either. But I majored in Creative Writing so that gave me a chance to really hone my skills as a storyteller. My school offered screenwriting classes, so I took those when I could. On my own, I studied screenplays and teleplays and practiced screenwriting. I...
I haven’t actually “produced” anything before ? but I’m interested in fiction. I’m really interested in the limited series format, and really love suspense.
