Great reviews! Very informative thank you. I had previously written off Texas from my consideration, but as you laid it out, this school makes so much sense from a financial perspective. I have a couple follow up questions based on that.
1. At what point do the TA opportunities begin? As in, do...
Not quite. This is explainable through selection bias. There are thousands of film school applicants who are not on that spreadsheet, so we have to remember what that spreadsheet actually shows us.
Yes, 100% of those on the spreadsheet got in at Chapman, but the only people who are on...
This is a fantastic resource and I hope more people get a chance to see this. Thank you so much for posting this.
I have a few follow up questions for you. I've been doing some heavy research on loans myself so I'll be ready when I apply next year, so here are some questions I haven't been able...

Yep, from what I can tell, there appears to be a clear top 6 narrative film schools, and then a huge drop off after that top tier. But Dodge should be firmly entrenched in that top tier.
Chapman is slowly rising up the ranks of film schools, but even now it seems to be the "best kept secret"...
I'm curious about this one and how school's are measuring cost. For instance, a school that costs $60,000 but is a 2 year program could conceivably be the same price as a school that's a 3 year program at $40,000. Do you know anything about how that works? If a school is a 2 year program, does...
Congrats on getting in to multiple UC schools! Each of those are solid schools in their own rights, so it all depends on what you're looking for.
What exactly are your career goals? I would definitely suggest picking the school you go to based on which one you think will give you the best...
Honestly Chapman’s law school isn’t bad. They aren’t t-14 or anything, but if your LSAT is high enough you can get scholarship $$$ so that can make the law degree manageable. I currently work for a national public interest law firm and one of our attorney’s attended Chapman Law on a full ride...
Question, what are the job prospects like for film in England? Cuz it worries me a bit to see you say that you got two Bachelors degrees, and that their job prospects didn't work out, so then you switch to a new field... except that the new field is film. I know at least in the US, the job...
Thanks Teddy! I've been messaging a few people asking them this same question, so thanks for starting the thread @BuddernScotch, this is a really helpful thing for us potential applicants to see.
Hey guys, figured I'd ask this. I think there's a ton of reasons to get an MFA, and I'm wondering what it is for each of you.
What do you hope to accomplish with this degree? Is this more of a dream, or do you have a practical career path that you think the MFA will help you obtain?
How are...
Poor taste? I thought the differentiation between the elite school and the local school could be seen in their trailers and I pointed out why. Obviously the sample sizes are small so perhaps this isn't a rule, and even if it is, I'm sure there are a lot of exceptions to the rule, but at least...
It's interesting, I watched all three of those trailers, and I think they do say something about the schools themselves. The AFI one is very story based, and also rooted in film history. That shot of the sewer flooding is an obvious copy of the blood coming out of the Elevator in The Shining...
Well I'm not an applicant yet, but I do have a couple of scripts that I would consider submitting to schools once I apply in the fall, and I still have several months to polish/write more scripts. If anyone would be interested in reading these and letting me know what ya think, I'd love any...
I'm curious, is there a place where people who were accepted to top tier schools have posted their work? That would actually be really cool to read, since we can try to determine what the acceptance committee's appreciated about their application.
Hey graduates, I think a very helpful thing for those of us looking at film school would be to hear your experiences with handling the cost of your degree. Obviously film school is a significant financial investment. For instance, NYU estimates a COA of 90K per year...
Hey y'all, my name's Daniel. I went to a small private film school for my undergrad, and then became a starving artist. I ultimately settled in doing research for a law firm and making decent money, but it's been killing me inside to be away from film, since that has always been my real passion...
