USC MFA Film Production vs UCLA MFA Screenwriting

Hi all, Would love to get the thoughts of users on here and current/former students of both schools! I'm an international student going to the US on a J-1 visa with a large sponsored scholarship for one year only and have been admitted to two schools but I'm having a hard time in seeing what...

Admitted (w/o Interview) Emerson Film & Media Art MFA - Fall 2024

Smooth application, submitted a five-minute short film, a three-page dialogue sample (same as submitted to SCA), and my nine-page portfolio of still photography. While Emerson is a school I admire, I will not be attending due to better school choices.

Admitted (w/o Interview) CSUN Cal State Northridge undergrad Film & TV

Was able to visit campus, was a good tour, with decent resources, lower cost tuition, and access to 16mm, they bring in professionals to pitch to as part of the capstone program/project and select a few to make and fund. Have ASL population highest among USA for non deaf college, even have an...

Admitted (w/o Interview) Cal State LA CSULA Film & TV undergrad

Did not visit this school, wanted to visit but time and money can't see em all. Cal state schools use their own portals, so that adds another layer beyond Common app, etc to manage Exhausting, it takes a lot to submit to college but film school applications are on another level. It is...

Admitted (w/o Interview) University New of Orleans

UNO offers free application, easier application than some other schools, tuition is was less and they offer reciprocity for in-state tuition for a few states which keeps costs down. UNO is the only school to have an agreement satellite program with AFI for grad school. Housing is good...

Is anyone applying for the new virtual production program at NYU Tisch this year?

I just received an interview, but since it's a new project, I have no idea what the interview will ask...

Admitted but Not Attending (w/o Interview) Chapman MFA - Cinematography Emphasis (Fall 2024)

Application process went well! It’s quick and concise for everything that’s required of you to submit. Probably the least extensive of all the applications I’ve done.

DePaul 2024 Film and Television Directing MFA

Just making a thread for fellow applicants! Got a notice of an interview on 1/20.

    Admitted (w/o Interview) Emerson College

Exhausting, it takes a lot to submit to college but film school applications are on another level. It is basically like you are submitting two applications. There are lots of parts, deadlines, and portals to keep track of. Start early, get organized, track stuff, put aside some money for all the...

Admitted (w/o Interview) UT Austin Fall 2024 Undergrad

Applying to film school is exhausting and a lot to manage with school, activities, classes, college applications, portals, and creative supplements. However, as you go through the process you learn more about yourself and feel like each application gets better. Yes, I wish I would have started...

    Interviewed USC Fall 2024 Undergrad

USC asks for a lot as does UCLA and many other film applications. It can be daunting, as a senior in high school, working on current courses, college applications, creative supplements, etc it is a lot. USC asked for a wrting samples, has numerous prompts, as well as a portfolio list, personal...

Waitlisted (w/o Interview) LMU Fall 2024 Undergrad

Application for film schools is not for the faint of heart. A lot of work, time management, and creative thinking are needed to complete as well as stamina and persistence. Fall 2024 application; LMU requires a full creative supplement compared to other years where it was optional, or portions...

Denied (w/o Interview) USC MFA Film and TV Production

I loved this application! I thought it was super fun and it's obvious that they made the application so that applicants can really shine and flex their creative muscles. I felt that this was an application for the applicant. There were different options to choose from for most sections, so you...

Attending (Admitted After Interview) UCLA Production/Directing MFA

I struggled with writing the SOP and Personal Statement. I found this application to be a lot less "fun" than other ones (i.e. USC). But I am happy with what I was finally able to produce. I'm glad I gave myself a lot of time to brainstorm, edit, brainstorm, edit, on and on.

Fall 2024 Common App vs School Applications and FAFSA changes

Are personal essays and other fields shared in the Common App for every school you apply to? Wondering if I can customize each essay to each school application or not? Since FAFSA is changing this year, how can apply Early Decision or Early Action if new FAFSA won't be ready yet? How do...

Visual Sample/Video Prompt for Chapman and USC

I plan on applying to different Film Production programs for Fall 2024. I'm worried about the work load from August 1-November 1, with school, sports, college application essays, videos, etc. My question is, do you think I can work on Visual Samples during the summer? Do the prompts from each...
