The application was very clear - nothing confusing about it. You can complete it within two days, especially if you have all the documents ready. It took me quite some time to write and refine my statement of purpose and statement of goals, as well as to put my portfolio together and update my...
It was straightforward. I chose to apply for this program because it has more affordable fees than some schools in NY. I submitted three pages of SOP, a resume, and two reference letters for admission. For my creative portfolio, I submitted a documentary short, a music video, a five-minute short...
One of the more demanding applications. Wrote most of the writing samples mainly for it, as well as the self-intro video. Uploaded a few hours before the deadline. Didn't hear anything back until the rejection letter.
Was expecting rejection as I didn't hear anything after submission. My portfolio did get a couple of views from Texas though. Probably one of the more standard applications, nothing too specific.
The whole application process was straightforward. They asked the applicants to submit essays answering three questions with word limitations.
For the second prompt, I shared a collective challenge when making a documentary film and how I collaborated with my team to address the problem. For...
It was a patient process, with me not trying to rush anything. A long thorough process, preparing materials, informational sessions, reaching out to alumni and current students, etc. All of which contributed to the passion and hours put towards drafting my materials.
I submitted my application a couple weeks earlier than what I listed but it wasn't officially received until they processed my fee waiver. They accept on a rolling-basis so out of the three programs I applied to I expected my decision from them to come first. Program director was readily...
Not sure if this is helpful, but a little about me:
I graduated with BFA in acting from UNCSA in 2018. Did UCLA's Professional Program in 2022-2023 where I won the drama pilot competition at the end of the program and was featured in Deadline. Had a few other high placements in competitions and...
An easy application indeed! Specially as they offer application fee waivers and I got one. No prompts are needed, so basically just a statement and portfolio!
Really straightforward application, was pleasantly surprised by the amount of overlap with other film MFA application requirements. The word count and time limits for the submission materials were somewhat challenging to meet.
Learned a lot about the MFA program structure from my interview.
Not quite sure what the timeline is for this one, but I'm worried that it's been too long and I haven't heard anything. Am I being a little ambitious here? Who knows!
Nervous, but excited
Going with the flow here
Continuation of my undergrad, but I LOVE the nuance of the program
Excited to experience living and working in Southern California
Application process has been pretty good so far. I liked that this application seemed to lean more into you as a creative and encouraged applicants to take a creative spin on what they were submitting. The main hiccup I had along the way was trying to figure out how to submit my transcripts to...
