Okay, pretty basic scenario:
You get 10 pages of your own writing to submit for USC.
Option A) 10 pages from a feature length script.
Option B) a complete 10 page short script.
Assume they are both equal quality.
Which do you submit, and why?
Hello, I'm a 23 years old film production BA (Hons) graduate from England, specialised in screenwriting and I'm currently looking at studying a MFA in film directing somewhere in America.
So far Ive worked on 15 films, shorts, music videos, promos etc. I still have to tackle working on a...
For those of you who are applying at UCLA (production/directing MFA) do you know if it's possible to send a dvd with our short films along with the application (in addition to the required creative material)? Because a friend of mine who applied last year (and was accepted) told me she submitted...
I am applying to UCLA, among others, and they ask for treatments. Anybody else out there applying, or accepted in a previous year (to UCLA or another) willing to share their treatments? Or, at least, advice?
I'm having trouble finding any threads at all about people applying to MFA's in film production/directing for Canadian schools. Anyone? I'm applying to some US schools in the fall but as a Canadian citizen, some of the programs here (i.e. Ryerson, York, and maybe even Concordia) seem more...
Hey Everybody,
I just submitted my application for Spring at USC and noticed nobody has started a thread about it yet. Anybody else submit as well? How do you feel about your application (or if you're like me and are reapplying) your new application?
Does anyone know how many are admitted...
Hello everyone,
I know some might frown on online programs but for right now it is my best option. It is really expensive for me to move right now. With that being said are there any respectable ones out there? I was thinking either National University, Regent University or Sail University. I...
I've been out of school for several years and have some experience but mostly in live event video work. My narrative stuff is mostly from my student days and I've found that I've changed a lot since then in terms of how I approach an edit.
I have some newer narrative work that I am planning...
Hello, I'm finishing my Bachelor's Degree in April, 2013 at the Miami Dade College, and I am planning to go to California to do a MFA in Directing. I talked to some teachers and they told me that is really hard to get in to the top universities, but they still encouraged me to do it. So my plan...
Hi all!
I've been accepted into the Motion Pictures program at UM and was wondering if anyone else was as well.
Curious to see who's currently in the program and who will be joining me FALL 2012.
Talk to you soon! :)
I just got accepted and wanted to ask everyone two questions:
1) Are you accepted for next year?
2) If you are in the program, can you please tell me how your experience has been?
I'm looking at the MFA in Creative Producing at Columbia College Chicago. It is the most affordable and seems to have a good focus on both creative and business.
I am curious too though about getting a dual MBA/MFA. Will having the MBA really help more? I have an arts background and am realy...
I know there are very few universities that have that program, is there anyone who is currently majoring in Production design? Do you guys think it's a perspective program, or you don't really need a MFA degree to get into the art department? Also, do AFI and Chapman help you with internships or...
Hi all,
Wondering if MFA screenwriting programs are looking for students that already know the basics, or even advanced elements, of story structure? I get the feeling that they might not even care about it, and instead prefer a "blank slate" of a student who they can then indoctrinate into...
Hello,
I applied for MFA in film direction at various American universities this year. I was rejected by all of them. I do not know if my experience in the work field is enough for people to take my application seriously.
So I was curious... how much experience in required for the...
Hey y'all!
Anyone else out there apply for the UCLA Animation Workshop this year? I've found threads in years past, but no threads for this year as of yet - thought I'd start one.
Anyone have any idea when we're supposed to hear back/has anyone heard back yet? I just got accepted to SVA's MFA...
I have been trying to find comments, reviews, and examples from current or alumni of the BU program.
Has anyone on this board heard much about BU MFA Film Prod.? I was accepted but didn't receive much in financial support. Want to see if the program is worth the possible debt I will acquire.
Hey guys! Just thought I'd start a thread for those of us who have been accepted to Northwestern's MFA program for 2012 and see who else is out there. Please post if you've been accepted/are thinking of going next year-thanks!
