Because of the 15-minute limit, I couldn’t submit the short film I was most confident in.
I ended up submitting one I felt less confident about, so I feel that my abilities weren’t fully reflected, which I find disappointing.
The process was pretty simple i wrote the sample in one draft for NYU so i'm shock that i got waitlisted. It's pretty straightforward process i'd recommend getting your Letter of Recs as soon as possible as it took them forever to come in
Turned in my application and then didn’t hear back until the form notification date. I was rejected without an interview. It was a pretty time-intensive one, though I wish they’d have had us do a short film instead of a video self-portrait, since I always find those a little vague and awkward.
Applied, interviewed, and waiting to hear back. Enjoyed the interview process: three interviewers, the chair, and two other professors. I was originally notified of the interviewers' names a week before, but one of them was changed. One had done a "deep dive," as the chair put it, on my...
I know we’re all in the same position and trying to piece together whatever information we can, but I’m hoping to sanity-check timelines.
If I haven’t received an interview notification yet from AFI Directing (MFA) or NYU Grad Film (MFA), is it reasonable to assume it’s unlikely at this point...
The application process was not bad. They want to see if you can tell a story visually and through your writing. For your visual submission, you can use previous projects that you've worked on.
Applied to NYU Film MFA with a primary interest in cinematography, though I'm also interested in directing. Received an invite for an interview on February 4. Still deciding whether I'll do in-person or virtual.
My application went well and I had some trouble with the dramatic prompts that NYU provided, particularly how short and limited they were. I wrote a few scripts I am very proud of but with their application, I wasn't able to provide them with what i wanted with the page constant. I also created...
I am currently producing my first-year application short film for NYU and would greatly appreciate constructive criticism of the script/overall concept, especially from a Tisch affiliate. It's about a 2-3 minute read. If interested, please directly message me and I'll send over the document.
So far, so good. Working on each of the creative portfolio requirements. They're pretty interesting because they seem to test you in subtle ways. For example, theres a written requirement for a two page scene with two characters in which 'something is revealed about the characters'. I feel like...
Hello, I just want to post this in case anyone is interested in applying to a film summer program, and if someone has questions about the application process, and overall experience. I am currently applying to NYU Tish Summer program and last year I attended USC. I am posting this because...
