Hi! I'm enrolling at USC (MFA in Film and TV Prod.) in Spring 2023, and the department has issued a deadline of Jan 3rd to register for classes in my assignment sheet, it says I lose my spot in the program if I don't. International students can't register till they've arrived in the US and...
Hello everyone!
I am so glad I found this website, I wish I had found it sooner :( its been really helpful to read others experiences. But anyway, I have been very blessed to been admitted to both USC and NYU for the upcoming Fall for their MFA program. A little context, I graduated May 2021...
Hi all,
SO I was recently admitted by Chapman's MFA program (Editing), while I also applied to USC (Film and TV production) and AFI (Editing) but unfortunately did not get in neither of those programs. Chapman is also offering me some scholarship.
There seems to be very limited information on...
Second time applying. The first time I think I didn't completely reveal myself.
I actually missed the interview email by a week, luckily my interviewer was very nice and we had an interview right after I replied to her email.
I didn't realize USC was going to submit a video under 5 minutes so I edited one of my short films and made it into a new version. But unfortunately it doesn't look good
It was pretty straight forward. I like that USC is interested in seeing what creative projects you've made within film as well as outside of it. Trying to grasp as artist by understanding all their dimensions makes a lot of sense to me. Wasn't sure if the short film had to be created solely by...
It's a hurry process because I spent too much time on the postproduction of my first film and it was not used as my portfolio of USC. I submitted a 5 minute film, which was also a hurry shooting. Besides, I think my essay of dialogue writing is terrible so I'm not surprised that I am rejected...
It was really stressful to prepare the application while working at the same time. I didn't spend much time on my personal statement. So I guess I will focus more on it in my next try. Glad that the wait is over now.
I just got my letter that I was placed on the waitlist for USC Writing for Film and Television for Fall 2022. Should I send an email to graduate admissions notifying them of my commitment/continued interest of enrolling at the school? Cant find much online on if they are open to receiving...
It was really smooth. Turned in my application on December 1st, received the email about redirection on the 14th of January. I had a zoom meeting with the director of graduate studies to discuss the process, filled out some paperwork and that was it. The funding is great and I’m hoping to...
The experience of applying to graduate film schools helps in distilling who you are and what you ultimately want from these programs. I applied to a broad net of seven graduate programs and found that writing essays and doing interviews for an earlier application made each subsequent application...
I submit my application a few days before the deadline. The short film is a story on my grandma and the historical background she faced. Spent a lot of time polishing my ps.
First time applying, international student, 4 years working experience. Application was smooth, if expensive. Getting IELTS scores synced was nerve-wracking and I ended up emailing to make sure they were synced.
It has been a relatively hiccup free process so far. Got interviewed and now it's just a waiting game. Looking to get to know other people who have applied to the same schools I have!
First time applying. Peter Stark does not require any film-based prerequisites or supplements. The application is heavily essay-based and will not require any short film/script/treatment.
Received interview invitation from a USC professor saying that "to get to know you a little bit better"and scheduled a Zoom interview tomorrow. Excited yet very nervous and I found this very helpful site to prepare myself for the interview. Wish me luck guys!
My application for usc was going well. I submitted one short film I directed, a writing sample, and an introduction video. The total run time of the short I directed was over 5 mins, so I make some changes to the old version and cut down the film to 5mins.
The process with USC has been one of the smoothest and forthcoming. The application materials didn't feel too extreme like some other schools (looking at you Columbia). They've been pretty quick with getting out interviews etc, and the interview was very relaxed and informational.
I liked how it asked to add more to the resume than you typically would include. It was a lot of short essay questions with varying character limits rather than one or two longer essays.
I was emailed about interviewing on February 1, 2022, but they do not give you options to choose from-- they...
