LMU First Year MFA (Writing & Producing for TV) AMA!

The first semester was phenomenal. Despite some Covid restrictions on mixers and the like, our class sizes allowed for in-person (masked, with free tests whenever we wanted/needed them) instruction. Two of our classes in the first semester (Elements of TV Writing and Writing the TV Series Spec...

    Waitlist Support Group 2021

I recently watched the documentary on Netflix about the whole thing. The fake photos happened for Harvard, Stanford, USC, and probably many more given the guy's MO.... The documentary itself was okay, though there were a lot of those early 2000's reenacted scenes.

USC MFA Writing for Screen & Television (Screenwriting) 2021

Also got rejection letter. I did get an email stamped around 1:30AM PST. Still waiting to hear from LMU, so I haven't given up all hope yet for this cycle. Particularly because I really fell in love with LMU's program as I delved into their curriculum and the energy and passion from the faculty...

LMU Writing & Producing for TV 2021

So sorry for the late check-in/report! Had a family thing come up that took up a bit of time. So, onto the interview! My interview was with the program Director, Patricia Meyer, and Stephen Duncan. Both were warm, personable, and immediately set me at ease -- no small feat, as I tend to...

USC MFA Writing for Screen & Television (Screenwriting) 2021

Hey fellow applicants! Sorry to start the thread and disappear. In addition to revising my application materials, I had a back injury a week before the deadline. Made the last few days before submission interesting, to say the least! In between the pain management and physical therapy, I'm...

USC MFA Writing for Screen & Television (Screenwriting) 2021

Congrats on getting the application in! I'm aiming for 11/10, and trying to budget my time accordingly while trying to be disciplined about stress-checking political news. :-( Totally hear you on the challenge scenes. Because I applied last year, I'm even more worried about that with that part...

Hi @heyambshey! Congrats on getting to the interview process in your first NYU application. That's huge and a great sign for you this year, I think! This is my second time applying to USC, so I'm right there with you in hoping the admissions committee can see an evolution. I was planning on...

LMU Writing & Producing for TV 2021

Hello! I didn't see a thread for LMU's writing MFA programs, either Writing & Producing for TV or Writing for the Screen. Personally, my focus is Writing & Producing for TV, but I'm happy to see anyone applying to LMU sound off and support each other in the MFA application journey. How's...

USC MFA Writing for Screen & Television (Screenwriting) 2021

Hello! I didn't see a thread for USC's MFA Writing for Screen & Television, so I figured I'd start one. How many of you are planning to apply, or have already applied? How are we feeling about the essays, challenge scenes, and 10-page writing sample? Personally, I feel like my essays are in...

    Chapman MFA Screenwriting Fall 2020

They said it's an approximate number, but suggested I get as close to 115 as possible. I'm at 114 now and I think that's as far as I can take it, honestly, without feeling like I'm padding for page count. I'm actually looking at it right now, trying to decide if I can add back one more scene to...
