The essays ask a lot of introspective questions that take time to think over and answer thoughtfully. I found that to be the most difficult and intensive part of the application, but other than that very straightforward.
The application process went pretty smoothly. Although I did wait till the very last day to submit my stuff, I did that to seek advice and help from others to make my personal statement and scripts more appealing.
The 10-page script I submitted is basically a first draft; however, the three-page...
Application process was pretty smooth. Submitted past the due date since there was an extension. Sent in the first 10 pages of a pilot episode I’d written.
Probably the best interview experience I had by professor and former program director. The conversation flowed really nicely and they...
Hi there everyone. Thanks for taking a look...
I've been racking my brain for a couple days over this decision and I thought it was time to ask some "pro's." This forum was the first one to come up :)
I've read across the internet that NYU and UCLA are top schools, however, I hear different...
Smooth; this was my first time applying for the program.
I did not receive an interview notification.
I am open to answering questions about the process and insights from friends who interviewed and were accepted.

It was a pretty straightforward application! The whole "record and introduce yourself" thing was something I didn't except (and hadn't seen on any other application). I ended up using a simple green screen in my apartment, a $200 used DSLR, and a lav mic to record it. Curious what other peoples'...
I submitted various documents that I had made for my application at NYU because there weren't a lot of specific requirements.
I think its also nice that you have the freedom of submitting so much content that you feel reflects yourself.
The application process was pretty straightforward! For the creative writing sample, I had a lot of existing short pieces of writing (poems, 2-3 page personal essays, etc.) so that was more of a "pick your favorite children and bundle them together" kinda situation for me. For my creative...
A lot of work. But good work. I really dived into shooting my own short film for the application and it solidified why I want to go to film school. I spent a lot of time on the essays. My recommendations were strong, I think, one from my long time acting coach/undergrad professor/former...
Easy application process, enjoyed the interview process much more the second time around. Very excited to be accepted. My understanding is that they are admitting 7 students. I plan to attend the admitted students program in March.
So, this is one of the three filmmaking master’s programs in Europe that I was interested in and that were in English. The others were:
NFTS MA Directing Fiction (Denied without an interview)
KEM: The European Film Master (which I ended up not applying to)
If you're applying here, take your...
Smooth; my first time applying Re: questions, Columbia SOA's admissions department was responsive, generous, and helpful. I spoke with a current student with the help of their incredible Admissions Assistant.
Denied on 3/28 after interview on 2/24. I thought the interview was extremely...
Smooth; my first time applying. Re: questions, USC's admissions department was responsive and helpful.
I am open to answering questions about the process.

Smooth; my first time applying. I had one brief, general meeting with an LMU SFTV recruiter prior to applying.
(1/29) I did not hear back regarding interviews when Writing and Producing for TV MFA candidates did.
I am open to answering questions about the process...
I like the AFI application because it requires introspection about oneself in the submission. I believe this is meant to show your awareness of your creative process and your ability to evaluate your own work as honestly as possible.
I sent an excerpt of a short that I shot back in 2023 to fit...
Has anyone applied to this program? I just found out they have a process called " Kira Assessment". It looks like they require you to record a live video to answer some questions, just like an interview. This scared me since I'm not sure what questions would pop up. Does anyone know what kind of...

Pretty simple, had to do more creative samples than other applications. They also wanted a dramatic writing sample in prose format which was new. This one will take longer because of more written creative materials.
Application portal was a little confusing given I had to check boxes every few questions confirming I am applying to the right program. Lots of questions, but you can get through it in a week. Have to double check you selected the right boxes for each question given how many there were.
The application process for Northwestern has been okay so far! I will say it's been a little challenging to answer so many general statements without feeling like I'm saying the same thing over and over again, but I think I struck an okay balance with it all. I appreciate that they ask for a...
