Hi guys! This forum was so helpful to me back when I was applying, so I try to remember to pop back in here periodically and offer any tidbits, knowledge, or advice for any incoming Chapman Television Writing and Producing MFA candidates. Or anyone thinking about applying! Any burning questions...
I've submitted my application back in November. I don't think it was that difficult, but then again I am a perfectionist, so I went through a lot of revisions with my application. I tried to focus more on who I was as a person and less on what I thought they wanted to hear.
I’m coming from a theater/playwriting background and looking for a screenwriting program to develop skills further and hopefully lead to future employment in the industry. Stuck between LMU and Chapman. Would love any input.
First time applying. I really enjoyed Chapman's interview. They are really nice professors and they are genuinely interested in my work and my aspirations. Really nice equipment too.
Hi guys!
This is my second year applying to the Chapman Producing program and getting a waitlist again, feeling frustrated😭.
I want to ask how many of you have got waitlisted from Chapman? Especially for the producing program.
Hi all,
SO I was recently admitted by Chapman's MFA program (Editing), while I also applied to USC (Film and TV production) and AFI (Editing) but unfortunately did not get in neither of those programs. Chapman is also offering me some scholarship.

Pretty smooth. To be honest I was quite confident with this one because they said we were able to submit anything I edited. So I also submitted some documentary cut, reel and some other videos other than narratives.
The process was smooth and the admissions office was kind, welcoming, and very available during every stage of the application. The interview lasted about 40 mins and was very conversational but still felt professional
It was pretty straight forward, the introduction video was definitely the hardest part to show who you are without actually saying anything or showing yourself. But other than that it was easy, just the normal narrative statement and portfolio samples. It is probably the most extensive...
I submitted my application in November and am super excited that I got an interview. Right now I am in marketing for film and television and looking to make that pivot.
I think my Transformational moment essay is one of the best essays I have had to write for an application thus far! Got everything submitted on time! Now the waiting begins.
When you schedule your interview they also give you an option to sign up for either a virtual or in-person "Interviewing...
