Challenging application with 10 questions and very tight character counts; they were quite transparent about when interview requests would be sent, so I basically knew my decision by the end of January, when I didn't hear anything back.
Good, I am a BFA graduate from DePaul, so I interviewed with a professor I know. Didn't ask me many questions about myself, but it could be because he knows me from class. He mostly talked about what the program was and about himself, which he tended to do in class, so I am not surprised.
Hi everyone! (I am about half way through writing this and didn't know it be so long. I hope that's okay and someone finds value in this. thanks for reading.) I you would rather not read, to save you the time, I was waitlisted March 17th, and just got an email this week on May 5th that I got in...
The application went by pretty smoothly. It was my first time applying out of undergrad. The interview notification took a little longer than expected, but it’s understandable.
So far so good! It basically took me a year to get all my essays polished with dozens of rewrites. Managed to get everything good about a week before the due date so had a little room for error. My references cut it close, but after a little nudging they also got their references in on time as...
Got in! future classmates please add me on ins and let's talk! @shirleysuihe AFI has been my dream school! really excited to go!! can't wait to meet all of you there yay! how many more words i gotta write lol this is so annoying is it 150 yet
I've done it three times now so I was pretty familiar with the process. It was pretty standard, less work than other schools for sure(9 questions + 1 video introduction). The video was new this year, but I was authentic as I could be. Every time I got rejected, I found the next best option so I...
Pretty easy process, the interview was very intense, it felt a little like an oral exam. Haven't seen a lot of other people post here about the program, I was surprised to hear back so quickly after the interview. Definitely anxious to hear back from Columbia to help make my final decision.
This was the scariest school to apply to because I've heard a lot about AFI and how rigorous and difficult it is to get into. But the conservatory system is exciting and appealing to me- specially the focus on collaboration.
This was my second time applying to Columbia and I honestly think my application was better off because I had gone through the process once earlier. Learnt a lot from that experience and hopefully applied it well to the second time around.
Two essays. One required, one optional. Submitted the optional as well. Application is automatically submitted when all materials are delivered/uploaded.
Was admitted very quickly and am somewhat suspicious of how quick it was.
First time applying. Peter Stark does not require any film-based prerequisites or supplements. The application is heavily essay-based and will not require any short film/script/treatment.
Straight-forward, USC is especially communicative during the application process. Many opportunities to interact with current students, admissions, and alumni.
