    Denied (w/o Interview) UCLA - Directing/Film Production MFA - Fall 2024

This application was quite intensive, especially since there were a number of supplemental materials needed for it. This program also has the earliest deadline so be sure to work on this one as early as possible! I only decided to apply about a month out and it was definitely challenging!

Attending (Admitted After Interview) UCLA Production/Directing MFA

I struggled with writing the SOP and Personal Statement. I found this application to be a lot less "fun" than other ones (i.e. USC). But I am happy with what I was finally able to produce. I'm glad I gave myself a lot of time to brainstorm, edit, brainstorm, edit, on and on.

Denied (w/o Interview) USC Film Production MFA - 2024

Went very well, spent a lot of time preparing materials and like the short I submitted. Really enjoyed doing the supplementary materials. A lot of overlap with other applications.

    The Brave and the Bold

Hello all! My name is Dave and I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Film Production. Like some of you on here, my path to filmmaking was not the most traditional. I had previously attended Colorado State University - Pueblo straight out of high school but a personal tragedy prompted me to...

Attending (Admitted After Interview) LMU - Film and TV Production

The application process was pretty smooth. My personal statement, treatment, and video showed who I was as a person and the person I wanted to become as a filmmaker. I think my personal statement was the strongest as I really dived into why I wanted to tell the stories I drive to tell. Really...

Admitted (After Interview) LMU MFA Film Production

I was waitlisted without interview for the cinematography specialisation last year and did not get in eventually. I switched my preferred specialisation to creative producing this time round and it went well. They had made some changes to their application from last year. Interesting prompts...

First time applying! I am still a senior in college, and will be graduating in May 2023, so I'm super excited that I got on the waitlist w/ guaranteed admission from the first try. I major in Film Studies and Visual Arts, so I do have some experience making films (mostly...

Attending (Off Waitlist w/o Interview) USC Film & Television Production MFA - Fall 2023

Quite a stressful process of many written materials and samples. This is my second time applying, first time I was denied so I didn't hold out for much hope but cool to know this time I was waitlisted! Am I correct in thinking this email is implying I am guaranteed admission in Spring 2024 if I...

Pretty well. Nothing new required in the application materials compared to the fall 2022 application. Not sure when exactly we will start hearing back.

    AFI or USC?

Hi all, this is my first time posting here but I've been sleuthing for months now. I'm an extremely indecisive person so this decision is really stressing me out. I applied as an international student for several MFA programs in the US and I've been accepted for AFI and waitlisted at USC...

Admitted (After Interview) USC MFA Film Production Fall 2022

The experience of applying to graduate film schools helps in distilling who you are and what you ultimately want from these programs. I applied to a broad net of seven graduate programs and found that writing essays and doing interviews for an earlier application made each subsequent application...

    Interviewed CCA Production Program 2022

I missed up CCA with Calarts lol I intended to apply to Calarts, but its name in Chinese is totally the same with CCA...So here I am. Though I applied to this school by mistake I have to admit that CCA is the only school which read through my materials and asked me a lot of questions about...

The application had a lot of elements to go through but the admissions committee, especially the program director was very helpful in solving all the queries that I had throughout the application process.

Applied USC Film and Television Production

I knew I was going to apply for a while, but I definitely waited until the last moment to get started lol. Started seriously getting my application together in October and literally worked on it every day. Miraculously I finished before the deadline (a day before but still). It's my first time...

Attending (Admitted After Interview) UCLA MFA in Production/Directing - Fall 2022

I've put off applying to graduate programs for the past few years, so I'm excited to finally be doing it, but I'm also very nervous. UCLA's information was a little hard to find and the instructions were a bit confusing (like stating a page length requirement in one place and word count in another.)

Denied (w/o Interview) UCLA MFA in Production/Direction - Narrative for Fall 2022

The initial application process was rough for me personally due to a sudden loss in my family, but putting together the creative materials was actually a nice distraction in the midst of everything. Crossing my fingers they like what I submitted!
