The hardest part of the application was to have 3 references/letters of recommendations, not the standard 2, and they all must have emails from a workplace to demonstrate they're working professionals.
Overall, I had fun with the writing prompts. They want to see your demonstration of your...
Did every section carefully and throughly, didn't worry if I can be accepted.
Offer came a week after interview and was offered verbal offer at the end of interview.
Finger crossed for all the other applicants, if you did it seriously with no regret, you can get in!
I applied to the UCLA TFT Screenwriting MFA program for the television track in the fall of 2022. The process has been pretty straightforward, though my acceptance email did go to my SPAM folder and I didn't find it for over a week.
I remember being a little bit late on this one. I usually prepare well in advance, but I couldn't really "unlock" the film prompt request. I ended up writing one, but it felt rushed and I didn't really liked it. Then luckily I had my epiphany and closed the applicaiton.
Putting together the materials specific to Columbia's program was challenging in the sense that its rules are very prescriptive and the boundaries very rigid. For example, the one page treatment and the dramatic writing sample have page restrictions that can make it more difficult, but it also...
Obviously this is a very special program and an intimidating one at that! Being fully funded plus a stipend. The application process has been very straightforward. UT Austin's MFA program encourages all applicants to apply to both their program and this one. You fill out one application and it...
Northwestern has a pretty easy application process. The instructions didn't mention a couple of extra (optional) writing prompts (diversity statement and I think there was another). I wish they would accept a full writing sample, but understand they have a later deadline than the others and...
It's a very standard large university application. I also applied to the Michener Center. They make it easy to upload one file, like your resume and it's added to both applications, however it got very confusing when I uploaded my statement of purpose for this app, and the Michener app also...
The application process is pretty straightforward and feels like a standard large university application. It took some thought to figure out how to differentiate between the personal statement and the statement of purpose; what each should contain and how to tell enough about me and my goals...
Their application forces you to get creative, which I appreciate! It's definitely a lot of work, but if I get in, it will have been worth it! It looks like in the past, they admit without interviewing, so now it's just a waiting game.
