Denied (w/o Interview) USC Directing/Film Production MFA 2026

I didn’t feel very confident about my application since I had to prepare it in a bit of a rush. As expected, I was rejected. My two-minute short film turned out fairly decent, but I was particularly lacking confidence in the self-introduction video, since I had to shoot it in a hurry.

Admitted (Off Waitlist w/o Interview) USC - MFA Writing for Screen & Television

It was my first time applying and I wish I had more information to give or things to say but I was on a time crunch when I started the prep for this application. The writing prompts they give you aren't that hard, but you have to get in the flow of writing. An advice I kept in mind from my...

Admitted (After Interview) USC School of Cinematic Arts Directing MFA

Had to create a two minute short film based around the prompt "this is the last chance" for the application. I interviewed with Robert Yeoman, Wes Anderson's DP, who, I am delighted to say, quite enjoyed how the film was shot. He asked me about some of the projects I listed on my resume before...

Denied (After Interview) USC Film Production MFA 2026

Preparing all the materials took a while such as planning for the 2-minute short film and writing all the required writing submissions. Planning ahead really helped me. The interview with a faculty member was super friendly and helpful. Long time waiting for this final decision.

Interviewed USC SCA MFA - Film & TV Production

It was a process that had me creatively think of my work and life as an artist. The process helped me make sure I was making a deliberate decision to join USC.

Admitted (After Interview) USC Film Production MFA

The application was less hectic the second time around. The only issue that I ran into was creating the visual submission. I applied for the spring 2026 semester and was waitlisted, so i just reused the same materials from that application

Waitlisted (After Interview) USC SCA Film and TV Production MFA

Of the two applications I did for this cycle (USC and NYU) I definitely felt like the USC application was the one I was able to have the most fun with. I had a really good time putting my short film together with my wife and my best friend and the written supplements felt a little looser than...

Admitted but Not Attending (After Interview) USC - Film production - 2026

I love applying to these programs because it makes me do interesting work and thought experiments. USC's application is a challenge because you have to convey a lot of information, meaning, and emotions in a short amount of time (short essay, short scene, and short film). But it was a fun challenge!

Waitlisted (After Interview) USC MFA Film and Television Production - 2026

It's been good! It could've gone better, as I submitted extremely last-minute. I feel like the work I had submitted wasn't adequate enough or MFA material. Feel free to PM me, or would like to stay in touch!

Hello! Admins please let me know if I am doing this wrong - new to the site and trying to figure it out! I am applying Dec 1 to the USC SCA Writing for screen and television program (BFA - transfer). I am looking for one or two professionals who would be willing to look over my writing...

Attending (Off Waitlist After Interview) USC / SCA MFA in Production (Directing)

It has been good. I prepared months ahead by scouring this website and various others (the article posted here about being as vulnerable as possible and how important your personal statement is was very helpful). I was also able to travel to LA to do a campus tour which I used as an opportunity...
