NYU has a pretty rigorous application, a lot of materials you should create specifically for their application, and only gives you one video to represent you. The challenge of creating all this original material is best met by giving yourself adequate time to produce some stuff you feel good about.
Application is going well, I feel confident about it. I had a great interview, and the professor raved about my personal statement. They didn't mention anything else about my materials though.
The application goes well. The short film I submitted was my first complete narrative film, I used to make scenery and travel video clips which they are not fitting the feature of storytelling. Due to the lack of experience, the film was not perfectly fit my original idea but overall it was good...
It's easy to apply because you don't have to write a huge amount of essays compared to other film schools, and they do not ask for a portfolio. So you don't need to have a previous experience in film to apply and hope for a positive acceptance decision.
Easy application. No portfolio needed, no resume, no film. Just some short answers. Applied early action sending SAT scores. Iy looks like they have a rolling decision.
It was a lot of work because it made me truly think extensively about my reasons for pursuing filmmaking and evaluate my personal growth in the last couple of years that’s led me to this point.
My only advice is to be genuine. Focus on what makes you YOU, and make that the focus of your application. Don't make you loving film the focus of your entire application.
Everybody that applies to an MFA for film production loves film (I would think), but there is only one you applying. Corny...
I was rejected last year without an interview, so I was so stressed out this year. I submitted like 20 minutes before the deadline. My short film wasn't polished. The sound and the color grading was not finished, but my interviewer was impressed by my film! It looks like they care about the...
The application process was pretty straightforward! I just followed the instructions listed on USC's website and on Slideroom. I made a film earlier in the year so I wasn't too pressed on time.
I applied through MyTexas which was a little harder because it was a different platform than Common App, but this was a straightforward application. I applied by their priority deadline which is required for my major. I am also out of state, meaning this acceptance was a less than 10% chance...
The application process was a little intimidating/difficult to navigate initially because I have never submitted college applications previous to this. However, I found Chapman's website to be very clear and helpful when submitting my materials and the Common App was also very straightforward. I...
Second acceptance so far. Deferred from LMU so this is exciting! A little shocked because I was told Mid-February, but got an email with no notice today! Also got a 28,000/year scholarship and invite to the honors college.
Just received notification that I was accepted into SFTV for the class of 2022! I applied Early Decision and will be starting at the end of August 2022.
Let's say I'm applying to SCA's Writing for screen and television. I know that the visual sample is for people majoring in film production, but can I put a visual sample in my portfolio at least, and will the admission officers look at it?
The application process itself was straightforward. Everything is really clear and easy to follow. I'm also grateful for all the available resources and tips found online, especially on here. It's all helped form an idea of what they're looking for.
The prompt for the collaboration written piece asks us to "describe a project that you worked on with multiple collaborators that left you feeling proud and fulfilled." Are they strict with how many collaborators a project had? I have a project I'm very proud of and would like to talk about but...

Submitted my application the day of the deadline. I submitted a short film I did cinematography for, a film reel, and a 20-page screenplay. I also wrote a 2-page scene (an application requirement for the program).
Trying to decide among my final 4 for film production

I like each for different reasons, so if anyone has particular knowledge of these institutions, specially regarding the learning environment, quality of their production program and facilities...
