Pretty simple application as well. Just submitted a feature script and a personal essay. this was the last program to notify me for an interview. Was interviewed by Jessie.
This one had quite a few essays, which weren't too bad. I tired my best to differentiate each one. I also submitted a 10 page short script that I wrote for Columbia's application as well.
Was a pretty simple application. Just submitted feature script and essay. Sadly, did not get an interview, but I understand this program doesn't have many spots.
It was fairly straight forward. I had done the UCLA Professional Program previously so had samples that I could pull from, so it was really just a matter of gathering the right letters of recommendation and tackling the two essays.
I learnt a lot from it:
Autobiographical essay: Four to six double-spaced pages. (Tell us something about yourself and your background, artistic experiences, creative influences, and professional objectives.)
Dramatic Writing Sample: A log line must be included. No more than 10 pages. Must be...
NYU was the easiest application I've done so far for MFA programs. It's rather standard (two letters of rec, two supplemental essays, resume, and creative portfolio.) The only frustrating part of this process has been the wait, but again that's pretty typical of universities. I am 22 and...
Beyond the normal application requirements and references, I was required to write an essay over three unique prompts (in addition to a writing sample). I spent the better part of a day putting my thoughts together and crafted responses that connected my personal and professional experience with...
First time applying, the application process was pretty straightforward. Submitted a full-length screenplay (118 pages), resume, a personal statement i wasn't all that confident in, and 3 letters of rec.
Really well! Happy to say that I've committed and will be going to Orange in the fall! The application is pretty standard in my opinion - average difficulty? I'd say my interview honestly went pretty average, too. Both instructors who interviewed me were kind but swift within the process; they...
Good! I submitted ten pages of a script I wrote for class. I'm a senior at Rice university and they offer a screenwriting class so I took that class because I always really liked watching movies!! This was my first time applying and I only applied to Columbia and Northwestern because they were...
It was a pretty straightforward application! The whole "record and introduce yourself" thing was something I didn't except (and hadn't seen on any other application). I ended up using a simple green screen in my apartment, a $200 used DSLR, and a lav mic to record it. Curious what other peoples'...
I began work on my application in late December and applied the 3rd of January, but there is no news yet. I have additionally not received notice of any interviews.
I realized I wanted to apply to grad schools in the middle of December. I don't know what's expected or common for applicants, but this felt to me like a pretty late start. Luckily, I had a fair amount of practice with similar application materials for screenwriting competitions and fellowships...
The application process was really smooth! The website's very clear with what's needed and gives you prompts for all the supplements. I began working on it in September, which was also when I established my three recommenders. I let them know that I wanted to submit my application by December...
The application was long and arduous! I worked on my essay 5 months lol.
This year we were requires to submit a 1-2 min video telling the school something about ourselves that they wouldn't get from our personal statement. This felt really tough--tougher than the writing.
The application process was a lot of work because it required two full-length screenplays and I didn't already have that. I never received an interview so can't say much more about the process.
The application process was pretty straightforward! For the creative writing sample, I had a lot of existing short pieces of writing (poems, 2-3 page personal essays, etc.) so that was more of a "pick your favorite children and bundle them together" kinda situation for me. For my creative...
So far so good! First time applying to grad schools. Applied to NU and a school in London.
Background is Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Most of my writing focus thus far has been plays, but slowly dabbling in television scripts and screenplays.
