Pretty easy and straight forward application. The interview went well. At least I think it did lol I had researched professors a little prior to my interview. I recommend you do the same. One of the 2 interviewing me was someone I had researched and I think it helped with the process. They were...
This application process was definitely the most intense of the schools I've applied to simply because of the writing sample. Other than that it was very easy to understand and fairly simple; it just took me a while to get this application done.
I think my application is strong, one thing that is not strong maybe my personal introduction video. first time apply, did not go to film school for undergrad. but lives in LA and made a side short with professional AFI graduates. I think the work is pretty strong. I am hoping to get a interview.
I spent about 6 weeks on the application. Feeling pretty nervous about if I'll hear back, but I'm proud of what I accomplished! If I have any regrets it's that I wasn't able to submit any video except for one piece that I had written, but I did pleasantly surprise myself with what I wrote.
I originally wasn’t going to apply to Columbia but someone told me wonderful things about the screenwriting program and I decided last minute to put together the written materials. What’s interesting is that I only submitted a 2 page scene that I wrote for my NYU application as my 10 page...
The process was relatively easy. As it was for the Production program last year, it was just going down the required list. The only hiccup was the transcript. For some reason or another, they used the same one submitted last year. But it didn’t have all the updated information. Other than that...
Website was a little bit confusing but it all went ok, the admission office was really nice.
They allow you to submit maximum two scripts so I submitted one drama pilot and one comedy pilot.
I really want to get an interview for UT-A since it’s one of the most affordable programs. Will post...
Application was a little bit tricky.
Most of the stuff they required were slightly different from other schools.
Submitted all the requirements and the optional video submission too.
I got my interview invite on Feb 3! nervous but so excited! I am honestly not sure what else to include here its my first time applying to the mfa program and im very excited. I have a STEM background if that is relevant at all.
I had begun the application process nearly a year ago, planning and familiarizing myself with past years' material. It was smooth for me as I began early, but it was time-consuming. I enjoyed the autobiographical essay most given the choices I had debated between which life experiences I would...
It has been pretty smooth. The application did not require as much material as I expected, and that allowed me to be picky with the work that I am submitting. As an International student I had to also submit an English Proficiency test. The platform was very nicely built and everything was clear.
The current students and faculty are so supportive and encouraging. Got a lot of insight and great tips from them! The application itself was straight forward and simple. Statement of Purpose, Statement of Pedagogy, and 25 pages of a feature screenplay. Fully funded + stipend apparently!
Relatively smooth so far. Since I had already submitted for the Directing program at AFI for Fall 2026 I just needed to submit the Screenwriting program specific items. I used the (slightly modified) script from my directing assignment for the screenwriting assignment, tweaked my previous...
The application process for USC went well. I believe they have a good variety of materials where you can show your potential as a screenwriter, but I do recommend starting as soon as possible and dedicating a reasonable amount of time into polishing each material.
I really liked the AFI application process. The interface was good, the materials requested were reasonable and I believe they can make a good assessment of each candidate based on what was asked.
The application process has gone well. I believe the hardest part was the two original screenplays required in the materials, as it was the longest work in all applications. Overall, it went well.
My application went well and I enjoyed the film prompts that FSU provided. I wrote 3 scripts I am very proud of, created a resume of all my previous film work as an SFX artist. I also included my high school experience in both live sports broadcasting and film competitors which I have been...
The application process was pretty straightforward and easy. Much simpler than other programs and very easy to understand. I even got a fee waiver very easily just by emailing the school.
The application was simple, with clear instructions. No uploading issues or need to contact admissions. Much easier than expected, a seamless, stress-free process. I loved the process.
