Called the admissions office today and was told that they expect Screenwriting applicants to hear next week! Very nervous...

I got an e-mail. It's REJECTION. GOOD LUCK TO ALL. "The applicants for our program were exceptionally competitive this year with over 170 applying for a maximum of 12 seats. "

I bet production people will hear this week. I think the admissions person I spoke to last week, who told me that screenwriters would hear this week, was confused. I talked to Char today and she said that screenwriters would hear first or second week in March. Guess the writers will have to wait longer. Good luck to everyone else!

Literally just now got an acceptance email. I had not really expected to get in and am pretty excited by this.

I applied last year and was rejected so all I can say is keep at it.

This is tense! Hi Film and wonderpony, thanks for the update and good luck with your other schools! I have a question for you, have you checked your application status on UT's website? I haven't heard from Char yet and I just checked my online application status, which still says: "Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review." I'm wondering if they only notify people through emails or if they change our online statuses as soon as a decision is made. I've been nervously checking my online status every 15 minutes for days.

don't worry amypj, application status doesn't change. good luck to you. Hope you get in. If you didn't receive a rejection e-mail so far, I think you got in.

I got accepted. I emailed Char last Friday asking where they are in the admission process. She replied my email telling me that I would hear from them this week just 25 minutes before she sent me another one with the good news! If you haven't heard anything from them yet, it's probably a good sign.

UT has always been my top choice and to be honest, probably my only choice this year. With things going on in my life right now, I really can't move from Austin to anywhere else.

Hey everyone! (And Britta -- tis Stacey! This is hilarious -- I didn't know you were on this thing!)

I'm a first year screenwriting MFA at U of T, and just wanted to reiterate Britta's invitation to ask me any questions, etc... I, too, was on here a lot last year and anything I can do to help would be my pleasure!

Good luck to those who have been accepted, and keep it up to those who have to wait until the time is right. "Rejection" is an intense word -- try not to dwell that shiz.

Judging from last year it seems like those who were accepted to the Screenwriting program received a phone call first. Is that the norm? I feel like it could be any day now and am starting to freak out a little.

Last year they contacted me on roughly Feb 25th, and I heard yesterday through the grapevine that the screenwriting committee was working more on "admissions" today. So I suspect that if you've been accepted you'll hear something soon! I think they like to get the process finished as fast as possible.
