Super simple essays, uploaded one visual example/video link, which was optional. Had to upload 2 treatments, film or TV is ok.
This was my second time applying. Didn't get an interview last time.

Hi friends,
I've leaned that NYU's graduate film program allows students writer their own scripts, then directs and edits it. Students collaborate/help others' set only as gaffer, cameraman etc. Is there any other film schools in the world got the similar mode instead of mandatorily...
The application process went well, I tried to focus on really bringing out a vulnerable part of myself in the personal statement. I read in the interview with the USC admissions member that was posted on here that this is where a lot of folks could go further with their application, so we'll see...
Hi guys, I'm film major (bfa)student from south korea, and now serving in korea military. (Discharge at 2025 Dec)
I've been dreamed about studying film at US, which has hollywood and such a great film industry.
So now i'm thinking about transferring to USC, Nyu, ucla film school.
But 1. high...
The application process went pretty smoothly. Although I did wait till the very last day to submit my stuff, I did that to seek advice and help from others to make my personal statement and scripts more appealing.
The 10-page script I submitted is basically a first draft; however, the three-page...
Hi there everyone. Thanks for taking a look...
I've been racking my brain for a couple days over this decision and I thought it was time to ask some "pro's." This forum was the first one to come up :)
I've read across the internet that NYU and UCLA are top schools, however, I hear different...
Smooth; this was my first time applying for the program.
I did not receive an interview notification.
I am open to answering questions about the process and insights from friends who interviewed and were accepted.

It was a pretty straightforward application! The whole "record and introduce yourself" thing was something I didn't except (and hadn't seen on any other application). I ended up using a simple green screen in my apartment, a $200 used DSLR, and a lav mic to record it. Curious what other peoples'...
I realized I wanted to apply to grad schools in the middle of December. I don't know what's expected or common for applicants, but this felt to me like a pretty late start. Luckily, I had a fair amount of practice with similar application materials for screenwriting competitions and fellowships...
The application was definitely arduous but not terrible overall. To be honest I decided to apply around 1pm on the day it was due, and I submitted my application about 10 minutes before the deadline. Would not recommend taking this route lol. I asked for recommendation letters that day, and they...
The application process was pretty straightforward! For the creative writing sample, I had a lot of existing short pieces of writing (poems, 2-3 page personal essays, etc.) so that was more of a "pick your favorite children and bundle them together" kinda situation for me. For my creative...
So far so good! First time applying to grad schools. Applied to NU and a school in London.
Background is Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. Most of my writing focus thus far has been plays, but slowly dabbling in television scripts and screenplays.
The process was pretty straightforward. I already had a pretty accomplished film to submit as a part of my application. Most of my time went to my narrative statement and writing sample. I started my application in September and submitted a day before the deadline.
Everything has gone smoothly. The admissions office representative I connected with was very warm and helpful! Pleasantly surprised to have received an interview invite.
Admitted off the waitlist for Screenwriting & Directing instead of Writing for Film & TV... which I'm okay with! Attending.
An easy application indeed! Specially as they offer application fee waivers and I got one. No prompts are needed, so basically just a statement and portfolio!
Smooth; my first time applying Re: questions, Columbia SOA's admissions department was responsive, generous, and helpful. I spoke with a current student with the help of their incredible Admissions Assistant.
Denied on 3/28 after interview on 2/24. I thought the interview was extremely...
