    UNCSA Creative Producing MFA 2025

Hello! I didn't see a thread on here for this, so I thought I would make one. Anyone else apply for the Creative Producing MFA for fall 2025?

    Applied UCLA Screenwriting MFA- 2025

My first time applying. Application process was not bad. Biggest challenge was submitting 2 completed writing samples. Other than that it was pretty straightforward. I submitted an hour long drama and an half hour dramedy. I applied for the TV writing track.

Denied (w/o Interview) USC Writing for Screen and TV MFA - 2025

Smooth; my first time applying. Re: questions, USC's admissions department was responsive and helpful. I am open to answering questions about the process. ________________________________________________________

Attending (Admitted After Interview) LMU Writing for the Screen MFA - 2025

Smooth; my first time applying. I had one brief, general meeting with an LMU SFTV recruiter prior to applying. (1/29) I did not hear back regarding interviews when Writing and Producing for TV MFA candidates did. I am open to answering questions about the process...

Denied (After Interview) Northwestern Writing for the Screen and Stage Fall 2025

This process went pretty well and I'm glad I had done it before because I was a little more prepared than last year, especially for some of the more random supplemental materials. Plus, my UC Riverside app had a lot of material that I could reuse for these prompts so that was good. Somehow I...

My first semester at Stony Brook / Killer Films' MFA program in NYC

I've been chronicling my MFA in Film journey by posting weekly updates on Facebook. (Yes, people still use Facebook) In the process, it was suggested to me that I post here on FilmSchool.org so here I am. I am a screenwriting major but Stony Brook's program has us producing, shooting, directing...

Stony Brook University is the hidden gem of East Coast film and TV programs. In 2024, TheWrap ranked Stony Brook no. 22 among the top 50 film schools, and...

Denied (w/o Interview) Northwestern Writing for the Screen & Stage- MFA, 2025

The application process for Northwestern has been okay so far! I will say it's been a little challenging to answer so many general statements without feeling like I'm saying the same thing over and over again, but I think I struck an okay balance with it all. I appreciate that they ask for a...

Attending (Admitted w/o Interview) BU Screenwriting- MFA, 2025

Applying to the BU Screenwriting Program felt really straight forward and relatively simple, compared to some other schools! I enjoyed how the Kira assessment gives the school an opportunity to see and hear their applicants talk about their work. It was also nice to be able to submit 2 ten-page...

Denied (w/o Interview) UT Austin Screenwriting- MFA, 2025

The application process has gone smoothly, though I will say there are a few things about the application site itself that are a little confusing. There's no official submission button, which feels a little nerve-wracking- and it also takes a good while for letters of recommendation to appear on...

NYU Graduate Film - Anyone get in with the photo submission?

For the visual submission on the graduate film portfolio, you can choose between submitting either 10 photos or 1 video. Have any of you gotten in by submitting 10 photos? I feel like I rather submit some photos I've taken, but I am worried that I will be less competitive with someone who...

    Applied UCLA Graduate Producing MFA

The Nov 1 deadline was definitely a stressor, but we made it. I found the formatting "guidance" in the TFT PDF to be pretty confusing: "When applicable, Supplemental Materials must be uploaded in PDF Format, 12 point font, double-spaced, use 8 ½ by 11 page size, and not exceed the indicated page...

Attending (Off Waitlist After Interview) USC MFA Film and Television Production - Spring 2025

Application process has been pretty good so far. I liked that this application seemed to lean more into you as a creative and encouraged applicants to take a creative spin on what they were submitting. The main hiccup I had along the way was trying to figure out how to submit my transcripts to...

Denied (w/o Interview) USC SCA MFA Directing/Film Production Application - Fall 2024

App process went well, I definitely scurried to get things done. Thinking retrospectively, I definitely would have taken more time to work on a more cohesive visual sample for the program. I think my essays were very strong and I had a decent portfolio and established body of work, but my...

USC MFA Film Production vs UCLA MFA Screenwriting

Hi all, Would love to get the thoughts of users on here and current/former students of both schools! I'm an international student going to the US on a J-1 visa with a large sponsored scholarship for one year only and have been admitted to two schools but I'm having a hard time in seeing what...
