Florida State University 2011

KadeDalton ( and anyone else who hasn't heard back from FSU yet)-
I called the film school today and asked if they were done notifying people for interviews. Her response was, well, not entirely disheartening. She said that although they have completed sending out interview notifications, they sometimes have an alternate round because people cancel/ decline their invitation to interview. I probably sounded anxious as hell because she then asked for my name so she could look up my status. It turns out that I am on this "alternate interview" ( not to be confused with "alternate admitted") list. I asked her if there was any sort of ranking done to this list and she said something to the effect of "not yet". Although, I think she mentioned that this status wasn't the default if you didn't get an interview...she expressed that there was some sort of distinction between being rejected and being on this list. Truth be told, I'm not expecting to get an interview because it's pointless to play the numbers game and speculate how many people will cancel or decline. I will admit, however, that calling gave me a sense of relief. I don't think I will feel completely aimless applying again next year ... Anyways, sorry for the rant. I wish you the best of luck KadeDalton . Also, congratulations to those of you who were invited! FSU is a genuinely great prgram. I am a current undergraduate student at FSU and have been nothing but impressed by both the humbleness and talent of the film school students I have met.

dandc98, did you apply for the mfa program or the transfer into bfa. Because I called Sandra the other day, and she told me that they aren't sending out notifications of interviews for transfers until they finish freshman and mfa interviews. Just wondering, because your post is confusing me, thanks.

the mahi- I applied for the MFA program. And yeah, I have heard that transfers are the last of the applicants to get feedback. Sorry to confuse you and good luck!

Oh ok. No its not your fault, having to wait the longest out all the applicants has made me on edge. The wait has been killing me, I really hope they answer my prayers.

Hello everyone. I am new here. I apply the FSU for Fall 2011. Just find this website and want to share some information. Also need your suggestion and help.

I got an interview invitation from Carrie Lewis on Feb. 4th. She mentioned me that interviews are being scheduled to take place either in the morning or late afternoon on February 20, 26, 27 or March 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 or 27, 2011. In order to get better preparation, I arrange my interview on Mar. 26th from 2:15pm until 7:30pm.

Right now I just feel nervous and excited of the interview. Want to get information from you guys. Is there anyone already took the interviews or will take interviews before me? Please share some information about the interview... What should I prepare to talk?

Thanks a lot!!!

Hey Dino,

First congratulations on the interview!

I am going to prepare for the interview by being familiar with my personal statement, visual sample and information about the school. You might want to read some of the older forums on FSU. There is some interesting information people have shared about their experiences being interviewed.

Good Luck!

Thanks a lot NikonvsCanon! These days I just search a lot on thie forum to get information and also reduce my presure of waiting. I will try my best to get ready for that!

Well hello Everyone! First, I have to say to Dino, you have pretty darn cool name! Second,I got an email about 2wks ago asking for a time to interview and I chose March 13 from 2:15pm-6pm. I am nervous as hell about this interview. Does anyone else have a March 12 or 13 interview? It would be nice to meet a few folks before or after the interviews are done.

Do you know if we are suppose to bring anything and what happens in the group interviews? Congrats and GOOD luck to everyoneQ

Hello Geno! First Congratulations for the interview.

Thanks about my name. haha! Dino is my English name since I am an international student in the U.S..

If you feel nervous you are not alone. I got the same feeling about 2 weeks just after I got the interview invitation. I have searcher some information online and here share with you:

My interview questions last year(via Skype):

Why FSU?
Any other schools that you apply to?
Plans after graduation?
Your first concentration? Why?

A movie you watched recently?
A movie you really like? Why?
Some kind of movies you don't like? Why?
Why kind of films do you want to make? For example?

About my SOP, they raised about four questions.
(All questions related to my personal experiences.)

Any questions about us?

The whole process was about 35mins.

And for my perception, except interview, we do have the chance to have a tour of the program and also talk to the MFA student right now in the program to get more information about it. We will also have group interview with some other candidates together after the individual interview.

Good luck for your interview, wish to meet you there in this fall. And after your interview, please, please share some information here. Because my interview will take place on Mar. 26th, it will be very helpful if I can get information from you!

Here is only 2 days befor the first interview date. Does anyone here will interview on Feb. 20th? Good luck to all of you!

Hello everyone, my interview is on March 19th. As FSU arranged only one day to interview international applicants, I guess the number of the international interviewees is less than ten.

Good luck to all of you!

Hey guys,

Has anyone else who's been invited for an interview gotten a call from a "handler" asking if they had any questions? The girl I got a call from explained that she was a 1st year production student just trying to make contact and answer my questions if I had any.

Good luck to everybody as the interview process begins this weekend!

Hi random! I am also an international come from China. But I am now live in the U.S.. So probably that's the reason that I can arrange my interview on 26th. Will you come to the U.S. for the interview or you will make it online? Good luck for that!

WOW! That's very kind wonderpony! You get special service, lol. I wish I can get someone provide me more information about the interview. Can you help me to ask the girl what kind of the questions we may be asked during the interview? Is there any special questions we need to consider?

@ Dino:
WOW! It's unbelievable to meet a LAOXIANG in this forum. My interview is on March 19th. I don't have a visa, so I can't take the interview in person, although I really want to. It's great for you to go there. Wish you could make it! Do you have any QQ or MSN account? My number is: QQ 23373374, MSN hannibal_random@hotmail.com

Hey! What were some of the others school you all applied to? Does anyone know anything about the Assistantship or Fellowship program offered for the MFA program?

@Wonderpony

Did this "handler" woman sound cute? I'm looking for a female companion during my time at FSU? lol I'm playing. That's pretty neat. I wonder if we all are going to get these types of calls.

Geno,

I applied to USC, NYU, Columbia, UT Austin, and Miami.

Rejected from UT Austin

Heard from Miami that they were interested but didn't receive two of my letters--weird.

Haven't heard from the others.

The handler did sound cute so back off Geno, she's mine. Kidding. Yeah, I was trying to see if anyone else got this call to see how to interpret it.

Good luck to all!

Just found out that we all will be have SEXY "Handlers" that will be handling us with phone calls about the program soon.

I applied to Miami, UCF, Georgia State and a relative wants me to apply to Chapman University.

@NikonvsCanon I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't looked up our FB, twitter, and any other social networking sites they can get their hands on to see who we are...speaking of, I need to delete a few pics if this is the case (insert evil sinister laugh out loud)
