Please help!! I've finished the application for UNCSA but can't for the life of me figure out the digital portfolio submission - I've asked the admission office but I still couldn't figure it out, and nobody else who I know who is applying knows how to work it either. Anyone else in this position?U
Graduated last year with a BA in Cinema Studies and English Writing. Am applying to this year's round of Screenwriting MFAs. I'm from NY so I'm really trying to only do USC, UCLA, and Michener. Was wondering if any acceptees were still lurking around and could offer up some general...
Wanted to share my singular Directing MFA video portfolio item. I submitted only this film (or portions of the film) as my portfolios.
As of today (4/19/16) I have had:
Just as a note, I am not a very strong academic...
Should be hearing from the school relatively soon regarding interviews. Anybody heard anything yet?
I dug a little bit through the site and these are the earliest dates in each application period that people have been contacted about an interview/rejection:
Fall 2014 = 1/17/2014 (interview...
Haven't seen anyone start this thread this year.
I suppose I'll start us off.
Applied for the Fall 2015 semester. Everything was in and finalized (including references) before the priority date of 11/01.
First time applying. Background in music production, short fiction, couple of small...
I just finished my transfer app to UCLA for next fall 2015. I'm already anxiously waiting to hear back, and thought I'd start a thread for people to check in. I saw people doing it for 2014 and 2013, seems like a good way to pass the time til decisions are made.
Hi I'm a sophomore in high school, and I've wanted to make films since I was 7. I plan to apply to USC, UCLA, NYU, RISD, VCU, and similar schools with a focus on film. I'm currently anxious because I know that I have skill, but am afraid that my application will not look impressive enough and...
Since the deadline is getting closer, I am worried about the formatting issues. I wonder for Columbia MFA's creative materials, such as treatments, do we have to submit in 12-courier font like the autobiographical essay? Or just normal, like 11, time-roman is ok?
Could someone clarify this for me? The UCLA Screenwriting MFA Application procedures says to both UPLOAD and MAIL the departmental application along with the statement of purpose and writing samples. Is it just me or does this seem rather strange? I'm mostly concerned because I'm living abroad...
I'm interested to see the portfolio videos and/or photos that everyone submitted to their respective films schools for their application.
I'm sure the other forum members would love it too.
While I can't find the footage I used for my application... here's the link to the short doc that I...
Since the application process is starting to finally wind down this year, I'm interested in hearing from people who have endured the process this time around and wouldn't mind sharing a bit about how they feel afterwards.
I think it would be interesting to hear the things everybody is glad...
Has anyone else had trouble logging in to AFI's online application AFTER submitting? I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen or if there is an error. I wanted to check in on my letters of recommendation status, but I'm getting this error message:
The system was unable to...
Hey there! I'm in the process off applying to directing programs at AFI, USC, NYU, and Columbia for Fall 2014, and I'm trying to figure out which of my projects to feature and in what order I should place them on my visual sample.
I know that narrative films are always preferred over music...
I am currently on my 3rd year of my Bachelors and I am planning to apply for Directing Fiction at the NFTS entering in 2015. Right now I am starting developing my graduation film which actually will be the one I will send as part of my application.
My concern is what kind of film...
so most schools are asking you to write a scene (sometimes about two people meeting in an elevator and sometimes two people in a room etc etc)
Has anyone done this for his/her school application that you'd like to share?
It would be so great to see the quality of what other students have done...
Hello, I am planning on applying to various film schools for my MFA. I have some questions regarding the whole process as it will be my first time ever foraying into competitive admissions. (Luckily, I got an easy free ride for undergrad as my dad works at the university and I had a 4.0 high...
