Hi there everyone!
I am currently a senior in high school making my final decision between two colleges which I've been accepted into. Boston University and Syracuse University.
From what I've heard and read on the forums and around the internet, both colleges have their ups and downs for undergraduate film school. Boston doesn't allow you to start until at best your sophmore year and Syracuse apparently has poor facilities.
My current issue, preventing me from possibly going to Boston is financial aid. When I was accepted, I received almost no financial aid, so in order to go to film school there, it would cost my family around 50k. However, at Syracuse, I received a scholarship for 6k, which ends up keeping the tuition around 40k.
What it comes down to is if Boston is worth the extra effort I would have to put in, holding a job for the four years as a student, and probably getting very few perks from my own parents (such as my own laptop, etc.)
Although, from what I've heard of film school overall at BU, it seems like it would be worth it to me. I'm just wondering if the contrast between BU and Syracuse is a great length on the spectrum of film schools.
I have had trouble deciding between the two schools and I'd like to know some opinions from current students, future and anyone else who knows about Syracuse and BU.
Thanks!
