Boddington, would you say it'd be a lot easier to get into the Film Studies program at York than the Film Prod. & Screenwriting?

I'm assuming Film Theory, Criticism and History not as demanding, in general.

I've seen applicant numbers for both programs, and I'm pretty sure the Production program has many more applicants per year - therefore its a much more difficult program to get in to.

What are the applicant numbers for Film Studies?

According to a FAQ page on York's website:

"In 2003 the BA program (Film Studies) received 200 applications and an incoming class of 37 students."

For the Film Production program, they said it is well over 1200 students applying each year for 48 spots.

Hey man - congratulations. Thats good news to hear, and I guess it clears up those problems about which school to choose (because it seems apparent you want to go to Ryerson). Anyways, congrats once again.

Just out of curiosity: Which Canadian film director did you choose to talk about for the essay?

I went with Cronenberg and talked about The Fly and Naked Lunch.

Oh, sorry man. Didn't catch that question. They actually didn't specifically ask me to talk about a Canadian director. I was reading the non-academic criteria from last years application procedures, and they did ask students to talk about a Canadian director, or Canadian film - but when they sent the stuff to me, they asked which films had impressed me and why. I did, however, talk a little bit a few indie filmmakers from the Ottawa community whose work I admired.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned ECIAD (Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design) Their newmedia program is crazy good with a much wider range of teachings that really allows for diverse films.
