Story Game while we wait for results 2024

I know we have at least a week left before we hear anything but I feel like I'm going crazy!

We can always play a game while we wait. Create a story together? Each person writes two paragraphs and then hands off to the next person in the thread, who then picks up where their predecessor left off. It's nerdy, but it could be sort of a fun time waster. I'll start.

They look at each other, frozen, while daily life bustles around them, traffic pulsating to the beat of Bad Bunny and Karol G. Throngs of people headed to this place or that as a street vendor shouts at them from her cart about her sweet bread rolls being the best in San Juan. Warm sunlight and the smell of salt permeate it all. The table between them might as well be a viper-filled pit. Each snake inside ready to pounce at the first sign of movement.
"Nothing has to change."
"I beg to differ."
"You? Begging? That's rich."
"And what does that mean?"

Michelle rolls her eyes, laughing at him, but his rigid stare remains unchanged. She doubles-down:
"Listen, all I'm saying is...if we go through it, we still could get away."
He lets out a long sigh, standing up from the table.
"You take care of yourself, alright?" He drops a twenty bill on the table as he turns away...leaving her nonplussed at the table.
Michelle, on principle, rips the twenty and curses under her breath. She shakes her head, only stopping as she hears the local street vendor yelling louder about their sweet bread rolls. Michelle's eyes narrow as she notices two large men in black suits walking up to the street vendor.
Her eyes widen as realizes.
(sotto) "They're here."
