Here's my sad track record, unless noted all screenwriting.

Chapman University: Rejected.
UCLA: Interviewed, rejected.
USC: Rejected
Columbia: Rejected
NYU: Rejected
NYU Production: Rejected but offered Singapore interview.
AFI: Interviewed, selected as alternate, now a fellow!

Provided the loans come through, I'm going to AFI!

Just heard back from my final school. I can't believe this whole process is finally, officially over! Here's my list for screenwriting, in order of confirmation:

University of Miami: Accepted
UT Austin: Rejected
USC: Rejected
UCLA: Interviewed, accepted and attending in the fall
LMU: Accepted
FSU: Interviewed, selected as alternate

I'm thrilled to be heading to UCLA. Congratulations to all who got into a school of their choice. Even if I haven't written to you personally, I've been following many of you on these boards, and it's exciting to see that this has worked out for so many of us. For those who didn't get good news this year, just know that rejection sucks, but getting to the other side makes it all worth it. I applied last year to one creative writing MFA and didn't get in, so I know it's rough. But here I am one year later, and I couldn't be happier. It's been a pleasure following everyone's progress over the course of the application cycle. Best of luck to everyone now that it's over!

Sorry I took so long to post. I only heard about most of these decisions recently.

Temple: Rejected
Chapman: Rejected
UWM: Rejected (I'm fairly sure they never actually looked over my application)
Loyola: Accepted
San Diego State University: Interviewed, in the final pool.
International Film School of Paris: Accepted

I am still unsure where I'm going, though I'm leaning towards Loyola. If I get into SDSU, it will be much less expensive, but I think getting an MFA instead of an MA would have its advantages. And while studying in Paris sounds great, I am concerned if the school is as good as I originally thought. Anyone have any thoughts?

Congrats on your acceptance to Loyola University. BTW, which program did you apply to at Loyola? That might help with the feedback? Also, what is your main goal/ what would you like to accomplish by going to grad school?

PS: When did you apply to chapman? Which deadline did you make? When were you notified?

I applied for film/television production. I would say my main goal for getting an MFA is simply learning how to make films from people who have a lot of knowledge. I have only ever taken one class in film and that was a Super8 introductory class. Virtually everything I know about film is self taught, so there is an lot I don't know how to do. I also want to meet and collaborate with others who desire to work in film, and grad school seems like a great way to go about that.

I am still unsure what specifically I would like to focus on, as my experience making films is somewhat limited. An MFA seems to offer opportunities to learn and practice various aspects of filmmaking.

I applied for early admission at Chapman. I lived in New Zealand from September 2009 - March 2010, and thus applied from overseas. I was under the impression that a reel was not needed, and as I didn't have one (my work was undigitalized super8 and other work from high school), so I submitted other creative work instead (primarily a comedy magazine I made for my honors project in undergrad). Chapman insisted on a reel, so after returning to the States, I had to create and submit one. I don't know if this counts as applying for the early deadline, as my application was not complete. I received a snail mail notification a week or two ago.

Hey!
I'm at Loyola for summer school (production), and the older students say that Europe is a no go. The industry is not as strong there as it used to be and with the crisis no new jobs will appear. Stick to the US...Jobs in Brazil are also growing like crazy, the economic crisis did not affect them...

i submitted my application around january, which is I think before the priority deadline.

NYU Tisch Asia: Accepted and going!
Chapman: Accepted as of June 3rd. Three days after my deadline to decide on NYU Tisch Asia (after 2 extensions). I didn't even get a chance to decide. What a waste of money.
