AP vs. IB

So i'm a junior right now and I'm a full IB student currently. I am a 4.0 student (3.9 considering a B in mechanical drafting) and 7/399 class rank. But this semester with the rigorous IB classes I have jumbled up grades and i know all the info up there will change starting jan 08 because I'm doing real bad in English & calculus(just dont get it).

Anyways I was considering dropping the IB programme and go to the other honors diploma that my school offers. Which has AP courses instead. I know i'll do way better in AP classes like I can get all A's. I think they're both the same IB & AP but IB can be considered more prestigious because it's the "international" baccaulaureate program.

IB is not hard. It's just a load of work.
I want to drop because I need time to work and start working on my portfolio stuff for next year and studying for act/sat.

QUestion is:: does i.e.NYU, Emerson, Fullsail, USC...give advantage to IB students over AP students (I know they give college credits for IB students)....I want to know do they consider AP vs. IB during admission process or do they look at them both as "Honors Courses" ??

ANYONE??

I'm pretty sure Full Sail isn't a grade based school because it's not really an academic school. IB courses are honors courses that allow you to get the IB degree which allows you to go to college anywhere in the world. AP courses are college courses that give you college credit so when you go to college you don't have to take those classes therefore making your work load smaller.

I think universities look very highly on both, and admission into them involves more than just an amazing academic record...

I would say if you think you'd do better at AP then go for it, because your test scores and your porfolio are just as important.

And the fact that you'll have had a little bit of experience in both might give you a different kind of advantage too...

you know how they say that they'd rather have you have a B in a honors course than an A in a regular course ???

How true is that really ???

because if I stay in IB my GPA might significantly drop because as i'm writing i have a D in IB-calculus and D/F in IB HL-1 English and A's in all my other 6 classes.

Do you think they'll notice that I've had A's my whole highschool career up to this point where i have 6A's and 2D's ?
