Columbia SOA MFA Directing & Screenwriting - Fall 2024

Don't know if they have sent all of the offers for Writing for Film&TV😭 Soooo nervous.
I heard that this program only admits 12, so it doesn't need 2 or 3 days to give all the calls, right?
keep fingers crossed.
Could I ask where you heard 12? For some reason I had ~40 in my head but I’m wondering if that’s maybe writing, directing, and producing combined?

I heard the number from my interview. The interviewer mentioned the number and I remembered it. By the way, congratulations! Do you know if they have sent out all the offer calls for Writing For Film& TV?

It’s interesting to compare the numbers. I believe Tisch for Dramatic writing is 22, Columbia seems to be 12, I think Texas was 7 or 8? Do these numbers seem right.

From our interview with Columbia:

Julie: We have approximately 72 students in our incoming [film] class. The average cohort size is always around 72 — some years, we’ve had a couple more or a couple less. That average is broken down into 36 Screenwriting & Directing students, 24 Creative Producing students, and 12 Writing for Film & Television students.

Thank you! Not sure about more offers being sent out but my interviewer (David) mentioned on our call that he would be away next week so it seems like they may be wrapping things up.

That being said, I've yet to receive any official letter so they could be waiting to finish notifying folks before sending those out?

I haven't heard of any directing and screenwriting applicant being accepted

I called earlier today since I still haven't received anything official and was told that they're waiting to update portals until all film program acceptances go out! Didn't get any specific details about which programs they're still rolling out acceptances for but it seems possible that Directing/Screenwriting decisions just haven't happened yet.

Sounds like there's still hope 😭, I just checked my portal and its not updated, no email yet either, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed! I'm so nervous though 😭.

I haven't heard anything, and turns out I was actually interviewed for directing & screenwriting and not for writing (I accidentally applied into that program instead?), so I'm waiting like everyone else!
