So that makes 6 of us on the alternate list. So we need 25% (at a minimum) of people accepted to decline. Thats a lot of people saying no to a badass program.

From what I hear, everyone that interviews is offered an alternate position. They don't rank us on the list but look at who has accepted and how we would fit into it. I know the email said small list of alternates, but what is their definition of small?

I doubt they would waitlist everyone who interviewed. I mean there are all these rumors of psychological profiling and identifying personality types and whatever, but it seems to boil down to nothing more than "can these people get along with each other as a group?"

Anyhow, accepted! I am deciding between Austin and FSU and either decision will kind of break my heart. I like both programs an awful lot for awfully different reasons.

I don't think they could honestly give every single person who interviews an alternate position, but this did just dampen my hopes a little
