Illinois Film Schools?

Does anyone know how good the schools in Illinois (other than Columbia) are when it comes to film? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, in terms of film production, there's really only Columbia and maybe the Art Institute; but if you're talking film criticism, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign obviously can't be beat. Afterall, it produced perhaps the finest film critic of our time, Roger Ebert.

Although it is one of the harder schools to get into(though you can't say NYU and USc are exactly EASY- NOrthwestern University in the lovely suburb of Evanston Illinois(so gorgeous- right on the lake and an EL ride away to chicago). THey have an excellent radio television and film program that will give you a great backbground for writing as well as directing. They have editing rooms in the dormatory even. They have great connections and good supplies.
I'm applying in the fall. I just loved the feel, the poeple, the location and everything about it. They have an EXCELLENT liberal arts base.
IF your looking for a STRAIGHT film school though(where all you do is film making.. no theory or writing courses or tv and sound etc... then it may not be for you.. it's a university like NYU and USC

All my life I have been lucky- I wonder how long this streak will go and If it will make me famous *wink wink*

I'm at Northwestern as I type. I'm here for a summer film program. The campus is absolutely beautiful (although parts of it smell pretty funky), and the equipment aint bad from what I've experienced. I've had server problems since I've been here, but that always happens. We just work in tape and in digital in this program, I don't know if they've got film. So ya, check it out, holmes.

They do have film, 35 mm and 16 mm.. i'm sure they just aren't letting summer program high school students USE it.. summer program and actual program are a tad(ok, more than a tad) bit different.. i would be there at that summer program but i have a conflicting program with berkeley ;( i don't wanna go there but i have a scholarship program thingy i'm commited to, darn.
