Northwestern MFA 2025

Everyone - I don't think there is a forum for Northwestern this year. I figure several of us are applying to similar schools so I just wanted to shout that I got an email to interview with NW next week. I am over the moon🤩 and wishing the best to anyone else who got an interview email from them

Congrats! Me too. I got it yesterday. Since there's no thread of Northwestern, so I haven't posted this news. I am curious about what questions they might ask. When did you get the email?

I got it yesterday too! :) I didn't post right away because I wanted to lock in on double checking my submission before sending so I spent yesterday and tonight doing that 😂

Please feel free to create a thread for any program that you are applying to that doesn't have a thread yet. That will for sure bring more lurkers out of the woodworks and attract more applicants to the site.

Good luck!

Same as you haha. I spent yesterday checking my full-length script and scheduling my interview time with them. So nervous.
I know!! lol I took both days to look over my script bc get so stressed checking. If I make even one edit I always worry I’ll accidentally make a typo! Idk what software you use to write scripts but for me I feel like it’s so easy to accidentally typo something in final draft and not even realize so I was reading over it obsessively 😰😂😂😂

Fully funded programs are so cool. I just realized Georgia State University has a fully funded production program. I'll be adding that to our film school database soon

"Most students in the Filmmaking concentration of the M.F.A. in Digital Filmmaking receive full tuition waivers and monthly stipends as part of assistantships."

Congratulations! That is an amazing program and to be selected for an interview is really impressive!

Thank you!!! I am so happy for your daughter as well - it's so exciting to see us out here still accomplishing big things even though we didn't get in last year 🤗 please send her my congrats about UT! :)

Just finished up my interview. Thought it went pretty well! All four of the faculty were very nice. They asked about why Northwestern and what part of the craft I was looking to improve on. Themes/ideas I was interested in. And recent films I liked/hated. Good luck, guys!
I agree! They were so nice. I only spoke to 3 because Thomas was teaching a class when I interviewed. Similar to your experience! They seemed super nice and interested in our work, and they asked what my weaknesses were and how I thought NW was a good fit to work on them, something I watched recently that gave me a visceral reaction/I didn’t like, and a topic/theme I’m nervous to write about (I interpreted as something I want to write about but am too scared to). Overall I thought it was great and I really liked the core faculty group!
