Good luck! Who's applying this year?

Applied for directing. Here is my film in case anyone is curious (version submitted to AFI cut most of the credits to fit 5 minutes):

I really enjoyed your film. Thanks for making it available for us all to see. You inspired me to add mine as well (in my original post).

Great job! Crossing fingers we both get selected to the program.

Thanks man! Just watched your submission too; such an interesting way to go based on the secret prompt. Impressive performances too! :-)

Last minute I applied for the directing program. I had to film my short the weekend before the due date. I cleaned up the edit a bit since the due date (mostly sound and added a shot - admissions has the link to the original version), but here's my short. Good luck to everyone else who's applied! I hope we're all in for good news soon. Has anyone heard anything yet?

I enjoyed the look of it and the quirkiness of the subject! Haven't heard anything yet but from what I've read it looks like they'll be notifying us about interviews between Jan and Feb. Good luck!

I was just skimming through the 2025 thread, and saw that you also interviewed last year. You mentioned it felt pretty laid back. How do you feel about it now?
Yeah, it was pretty informal but certain questions caught me off guard. I remember having a somewhat lackluster answer to "what would you do if you don't get accepted into AFI?" I was also surprised, and slightly disappointed to be frank, to not be asked about my favorite films aside from a defusing question about the Synecdoche New York poster I had on my wall behind me. Then again I suppose they assume those being interviewed could talk for days on end about their favorite movies.

Ah gotcha. Do you feel more confident going into the interview this time? I'm sure you have a great answer for what you'd do if you don't get accepted this time as you literally just lived it. Why were you disappointed they didn't ask about your favorite movies?
