UCLA TFT MFA Applicants 2026 (5 Viewers)

just got the waitlist notification. actually, it was sent to my spam folder, so i’d check your spam folder if you haven’t already. i’m guessing they’ve sent out the acceptances and will be sending out waitlists next and rejections last? but i’m not sure
Thanks for letting me know! I’ve also received the wait list mail through my spam mail box😅

So sad since UCLA was my priority. I guess it would be a painful waiting until I finally get the result haha

Lol sounds like you'll be well positioned at USC then, I'm happy for you. I'm so curious about the mixed reviews from students and the oppressive administration. That's rough.
thanks! yea it sounded like there were some budget cuts recently due to a higher budget deficit, and it’s also been difficult for students to enroll in classes outside of their school. but the students i spoke to all seemed cool, they were just frustrated because they weren’t given the experience they were promised, of being in an interdisciplinary art school.

congrats on getting into UCLA! do you think you’ll be going there, or are you considering other options?

Thank you! I will be attending UCLA, I didn’t apply anywhere else.

Are there any current Directing students that would be willing to talk with me about their experiences?
@laurenowen900 @8ballqueen @prodigalsun @RoseOfAberlone @WileyBurp are some recent people who marked themselves as attending UCLA directing in past logged applications.

USC for sure, i was honestly kinda put off of CalArts after visiting for interview day

Good for you! What was weird about CalArts? Bummer, but good to find out early I guess.
One can review a should l school as an applicant (anonymously) if you want to:

California Institute of the Arts (CalArts)

California Institute of the Arts (CalArts)

The Program in Film and Video is designed for students who use film and video as media for personal expression and exploration—those artists for whom independent film and video is a calling and not simply a mode of production. In the workshop environment cultivated by the program, each student...

We don't have that many reviews for the program yet.

What put you off from CalArts? I kind of felt the same, I liked that we were acknowledged and showed around but I did feel like they were giving us the hard-sell.
the location, i didn’t connect with the faculty, and the experiences of current students seemed mixed. also just a feeling that i would not enjoy or get a lot out of going.

but i do feel like calarts would be a good fit for a different person, don’t mean to put down the program.

In the same boat, but out of curiosity, do you guys see a UID # on your application portal? One popped up for me yesterday and I was able to make a UCLA Logon account, though it's not letting me log into it today.
