Oh I see it now. The whole screen changed after I logged back in lol.


Thought this was interesting: Beginning with the 2021-2022 admission cycle, Chapman University no longer requires applicants to disclose their criminal history during the admission process. The admission committee makes all decisions on candidates for admission without knowledge of criminal history.

I hope they don't mean serious crimes lol.

Now the question is, can you justify spending at least 100k on a degree?

Really weigh the pros and cons of attending Chapman. I wrote down a list for the pros and cons of attending Chapman.


Pros of going to Chapman Film School:
- Chapman is located in Orange California which is located 35-40 minutes away from Los Angeles which is a big filming location
- The ability to network with friends/professors who are in the video industry who may be able to get me jobs.
- There’s lots of post production houses in California.
- Orange has great weather and is warm all year around.
- Located near Disneyland


Cons of going to Chapman Film School:
- Chapman University is expensive. I would have to go into some debt.
- It will be expensive to live there.
- I will go in knowing absolutely nobody and not have a network of people.
- I won’t have my parents around and I won’t be able to visit them often.
- There is no guarantee that I will find a job in the industry right after film school or at all.


Gray Areas That Could Be Pros or Cons
- The school is fairly small (around 9000 kids) so will I find a sense of community there?
- I will likely have to live in California for 2-3 years and potentially beyond if I successfully find a job.

First off, Chapman IS NOT 35-40 minutes from LA. Not unless you're driving in the middle of the night and the freeway is empty. From Orange to Downtown on the 5 is at least an hour because THERE'S ALWAYS TRAFFIC. But if you take the Metrolink up, and the station's right next to Dodge, you might make it to Union Station in 50 minutes. Downside is you're without your car.

That said, you're still very close to the industry. And there are a TON of people who live in OC who work in Hollywood. Lots of production houses in OC, actors, directors, writers, below the line staff. And Chapman's career center is TOP-NOTCH. VERY, VERY good resources. It's run by a former CAA super agent with a great rep. He's probably one of the main reasons why I consider Chapman as an option, that and the proximity to my house.

If you want to work in the industry, you might as well accept now that you're likely going to have live in SoCal. There are worse places to have to call home.
