conservative film program

I think the subject is clear already. I know CalArts is conservative, and also Pepperdine and Chapman (partly conservative). What about UCLA? Or any other suggestions?

Btw, conservative means 'artsy', right?

okay, hmm.that's not a word I made by my own, I found it in the internet. I concluded that it has the same meaning with 'artsy'.

So what I meant here is, I'm desperately looking for good 'artsy' film programs. Those like CalArts or NYU.

If you have any recommendations, that would be really helpful.

If you're looking for an "artsy" program, look at some art schools. CalArts, California College of Art, Columbia College Chicago (or Columbia College Hollywood since it's in CA), etc, etc.

I'm definitely applying to CalArts.
The other two schools, do they guarantee connections to the industry (especially the indie industry ones.get it?)? because both are not really well-known schools , are they??

I know CCC reputation, but what about CC Hollywood? I've heard some bad news about it.

And what about SFAI and Otis?

Ok, I'm still confused by your query. You're looking for an "artsy" school, which to me means a school that stresses art for the sake of art, experimentation with style, content, form, etc. but then you are wondering about industry connections.

I suspect that what you are actually looking for are "indie" schools, which is different from "artsy" schools. A place like NYU promotes independent filmmaking, unique personal expression and all the rest, but without taking an eye off the real world practicalities of the craft, and the fact that there is a commercial market for independent filmmaking.

I don't know much about these art institutes, but you should really better define (for yourself and others) what it is you want before determining where you want to apply.

I think my passion is more to the 'artsy' one. Say I place my career there. Can it support me financially?

I'm not saying that I'm looking for profit. I don't want to do Hollywood films, nor indies. But I still need to earn money to live. So if I'm choosing this artsy part, can it support me financially?
