fall 2026 film school applications - Has anyone gotten interview invites yet?

I wouldn't overly worry about it. It might be a program they use to try to hide views or something. On the short I made for the directing project it showed 2 views 100% in the analytics as of even a couple days ago. When I looked this morning the analytics looked wonky. It shows 1 view 100% now and another view that starts at like 1 minute and lasts for 5 seconds.....stops and then views again at like 1 min 30 for like 5 seconds and stops again. Really weird. I just assume it's probably some software thing attempting to mask views because it definitely showed 2 views 100% previously.
that’s comforting. yea i’m just catastrophizing in advance, i know it’s impossible to tell what the admissions committee will decide, but i’m scrambling at every bit of info.

by the way, i liked your short. great performances and i felt that it tackled a relevant issue in a subtle way, asking the viewer to decide on what’s right instead of giving them the answer. hope you get in!

I hear you. I keep telling myself to just forget about it until I hear something (what I try to do for everything) but I'm scrambling for every bit of info too. And thanks for checking it out and sharing your thoughts! I'm crossing fingers for us both!

What questions do they ask in the interview for directing?
Here's our interview with AFI admissions which has some tips on interviews:

What questions do they ask in the interview for directing?
They went through both of my film submissions and asked me about certain choices I made -- they critiqued a certain directorial choice I made, saying they wouldn't have made that choice. My theory is they wanted to see how I responded to that --- since so many of our choices are critiqued at AFI -- that's what we are there for! I responded positively, explaining why I made the choice but that I totally see why it doesn't work & why it wasn't a strong choice. They critiqued other parts of the film too!! I thanked them for their feedback.

They asked what movies I like and what I want to make. They asked about how I was with collaboration, they liked when I gave them examples about how I listened to other people's ideas on set and implemented them. They wanted to know how I would react if someone suggested something on set but I didn't agree.

They asked what feature or TV show I would want to develop while at AFI.

Those are some of the things :)

Congrats everyone! I'm pulling for you. 🤞

Don't forget to log your applications with all of the notification and interview info when you can. It's very helpful to people.
