MBA's/LLM's are for cowards

This is my second year applying to a writing program and I just wanted to share something that I don't know if anyone else feels.

All of my friends that get into MBA programs in Harvard, Wharton, Columbia etc feel they are the **** when in reality all they did was have a decent GPA and master a standardized test.

I wouldn't knock anyone's achievement just for the hell of it except that when you tell them you're trying to get into a writing program they smile condescendingly at your "cute" artistic goal as if it were way simpler than what they've done.

I just want to say that I think any of us could easily get into any business program we wanted and that what we're doing is way cooler.

My best to all of you.

Get better friends?

I know for a fact I couldn't get an MBA or whatever. I just am not wired for that type of thinking, that type of work, that type of logic, etc.

To me it sounds like you've just got some really condescending friends, no need to stoop to their level though. I want to become a writer because I can't imagine myself in any other field, for some it's that way with business or law, so I would never call someone a coward for pursuing that. Simply because what we want to do is more on the outskirts of what is considered conventional living doesn't make us some rebels or anything.

Honestly it just sounds like you have ****ty friends who have dragged you down to their level, don't turn what you're doing in life into a pissing match with anyone.

Haha, I think my message came out more aggressive than what I meant to write -I just happened to run into someone today who was like that.

Indeed, everyone is free to pursue what they like.

The same MBAs condescending about artsy fartsy writers are the same widget heads that will climb over each other to manage wrters and other creatives in Hollywood. I just wish they'd stay east and embrace their beige walls.
