University of Texas at Austin 2010

Production, still waiting to hear back from a bunch of others (as is everyone it seems), but UT Austin is a very appealing choice at the moment. To everyone still waiting, hang in there, I'm sure there will be more good news in the coming days.

For what it's worth to fellow boarders, I received a wait list notification this afternoon for the Production MFA. I am on the "active wait list." I'm kind of discouraged about my chances, but I still take it as a compliment and its definitely better than a flat-out rejection! Maybe luck will swing my way and something will open up. Fingers crossed for the rest of you; good luck folks...

I have a friend who found out on Tuesday that she had been admitted into a different graduate program at UT, and I was so surprised that it happened so soon. And now I'm doubly surprised to see that the MFA applicants are getting their decisions, too.

So does it seem to just be the production MFA applicants that are receiving notification, or has someone received word on an application to UT's screenwriting MFA? I applied for that program and haven't heard anything yet.

Edit:
And I almost forgot, congratulations to everyone who got in!

I'd love to get waitlisted to a school. That's at least SOME positive affirmation of you, as a writer/filmmaker/creative individual. ;)

So sad...Has texas sent out all the acceptence notification? They only offer 12 places for production, it seems no need to send on seperate day...In such case, I feel I could predict that I was out. Such a bad news...I really love their program.

Is there anyone on the boards who attends UT Austin? Can you tell us a little about what your days are like, how you like the program, what the financial landscape is like for students who attend?

Someone at thegradcafe.org is reporting that they have been accepted into the Media Studies program.

The past two years, I have received my rejection letter around the end of February.

Also waiting for word from the Screenwriting program, as well as the Michener program. Has anyone heard either way? I saw on thegradcafe.com that people were getting accepted as late as March 10 last year, although it doesn't say for which program.

I applied for production and still have not heard anything either. Maybe that means they are saving rejections until they are sure they can fill their spots? It sounded to me like they sent acceptance e-mails to those they wanted.

Another person I know got a rejection e-mail from Production, so they are at that point in the process. I've surmised from surfing forums that they might do things alphabetically, so maybe by the end of the week?

I got an email last week and a letter in the mail today saying I was rejected for Production. I don't know why they sent both, but I'm thinking I still have a chance? jk

I just got an email asking about my transcripts (for screenwriting) as it seems Stuart is wanting to call me to say I'm accepted, but needs the transcripts first. I thought I'd bunked-up my application so I never bothered with my transcripts... Woops. So I'm waiting on them to reach their office and we'll go from there. Hoping I get a Fellowship, though, as I'm international and certainly can't afford it otherwise! Fingers crossed!!

Stuart also called me today. He left a message on my parent's machine saying he had "good news" and to call him back. Unfortunately, I didn't get the message until after 5, and he left his office number, so I won't know until tomorrow :(
