UT Austin Screenwriting 2025

just saw on MFA Draft that someone got a UT Interview email earlier this morning! I did not 😭 well, win some lose some. Did anybody here get one?!
I got an interview email this morning! I think they all went out at once. other programs I applied to seem to be reaching out for interviews in batches though, so maybe UT will do the same after the initial batch? the email I received said they’re doing the interviews on Monday, which was the only date provided.

has anyone here applied in previous years?

Congrats!!!! I had an interview last year but was waitlisted lol so idk if I’m qualified to give advice😂 but always happy to chat if you want!

Thanks!!! Wishing you luck for Michener! Anything in particular I should be thinking about for the interview? 15 minutes seems so short!
I got an interview email too. Curious about any info about the interview haha. I think 15 is pretty short as well.
Congrats to you both!!! :) If you go thru the logged applications of last year's applicants on this site, you can see the q's they asked us and who the interviewers were. There were 2 days of interviews with dif folks, but I think they all asked similar questions - your fave recent movie/show and why, why UT, anything else you want to tell us? Really basic stuff.

My biggest advice after doing it last year is just CHILL. I was SO excited to get an interview and SO worked up about it that I feel like I kinda unintentionally practiced too much and scripted my answers really hard because I just wanted to do well lol. I feel like I lowkey ended up coming across like a sleep-deprived maniac hahahaha. I remember they were significantly late to the 15 minutes, I was confused and tired and stressed, and the whole thing was just a humorous whirlwind and I just felt so harried lol. This year for my interviews I am trying to practice WAY less and just be more regularly myself, and it's gone much better so far I'd say hahaha. Any other q's I can answer, just LMK! :) Best of luck to you both and anyone else with interviews!! Woop!

Thanks! I think should control myself to over-practice, too. lmao. Just relax and chill.

Just got my Michener rejection :( Expected but still a bummer. Anyone else hear back?
I'm the same as you. Their decision came so quickly this year, especially since I just got an interview yesterday with the screenwriting program. So when I received the email from Austin, I thought it was too soon to make a decision, but I found it from Michener. I'm not sure if there's any relevance between these two programs, but seems the screenwriting program also will make its decision this week.

I am more of a lurker than a poster as my daughter is not on any social media but she likes me to give her the highlights. It was her second time applying to Texas. She interviewed yesterday and was accepted today. She was rejected from Michener. She was thrilled with the news and I believe she has to accept by mid April. I hope others get good news today.
