What to wear to interview? (1 Viewer)

I'm interviewing for an MFA in Screenwriting. They gave no helpful info on what to wear. Is a suit too formal? Is a sweater and dress pants too casual? I have no idea. Thanks :)

Where are you interviewing? Has the school specified?

Generally interview dress codes are smart casual, so skirt with tights and nice shirt (not too formal), or nice jeans with shirt and blazer will do!

So, I'll join the styling congregation ;) My favourite combi are jeans/trousers/skirt and a shirt that isn't too distractive (not too colorful, not too psychedelic pattern or typo and not showing too much skin) plus blazer are my favourite combination. The blazer is the most important part, because it says I am professional, but with the casual rest I am artsy enough to be taken seriously. Nice shoes are the icing on the applicant ;) I am now considering what to wear in a skype interview and where to put my laptop... I have a big fantasy painting on my back wall, so I could dress up like an elf and blend in perfectly, haha :D Maybe only shirt and blazer? What about jewellery?

It's at FSU. I bought coral dress pants with a striped shirt and black blazer, but my parents are telling me it's not dressy enough. I mean it still is grad school, so I don't want to wear jeans. I took that outfit back and bought black pants. so now its like a 3/4 length suit. I don't want to look overdressed either, though. Bah. I didn't think this would be the part of the interview that stressed me out the most!

come to think of it, i may have been severely underdressed for my interview at chapman. i wore a pair of boyfriend jeans, a solid tshirt, and a scarf. it didn't even occur to me to dress up... hahaha but hey, i got in so i guess it counts for something...? :)
