How do interviews work?

Hi All!

I'm applying to film schools for the Fall of 2023, and I've often seen tags specifying someones admission with or without an interview. I was curious as to how interviews work for college. Do I schedule an interview myself? Do all schools allow you to schedule interviews? When should I schedule my interviews? If anyone has any information and insight into how this process works that would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

They'll contact you to request an interview if they want one. Some schools interview everybody, some schools none, and some schools only a few. I suggest going through past applications (they'll have dates and updates etc) and reading through past application year threads for schools you are applying to.

I'd also consider creating a brand new application year thread for the schools that you are applying to as well so you can meet your fellow applicants.
