Hey! I’m going to apply to colleges for fall ‘27 semester this summer, and I’m feeling conflicted. Before this year, I thought it was clear that I would just ED to NYU b/c USC didn’t offer ED to their school of cinematic arts. Now, they’ve added it to the list of schools you can ED to, which makes it a difficult decision because I don’t know which school I prefer. Both offer amazing programs, with NYU leaning towards indie filmmaking (which I generally gravitate towards) and USC having better industry connections, but leaning more towards the big studios. I have a lot of friends who have been accepted into TISCH for this coming year, which obviously makes me want to go there, but I also can’t base where I apply ED to based on my friends. NYU also has ED2, which means I could always apply ED to USC and then if that doesn’t work out, try for NYU. It’s a very pragmatic way of looking at a decision that determines my future, which worries me. I want to apply to a school because I like it, not because it’s convenient. I was wondering, if you attend/have attended either USC or NYU, how would you describe your experience? What I’m interested in is hearing a year by year breakdown of that the typical curriculum would look like for the Film & TV Production majors at each school, as well as if you feel like it set you up properly for stepping into the film industry (whether that be through connections made, opportunities you got, equipment you worked with, what you learned, etc.)
Thank you!
Thank you!
