AJ, there are places other than in the direction I gave you, but the majority of them will be bad complexes, in bad areas, or both. The only exception I can think of is the newer area called Southwood, which is...south. It's near Capital Circle/Blairstone I think, but it'll be a more expensive area. I live in a gigantic two bedroom apartment that was bigger than my sister's house back home in California (before she moved) and only pay 790. My complex is called Meridian Place, on Meridian Rd, just east of Monroe.
On campus might be okay I suppose, just remember that Tallahassee is nothing but a college/government town, and a partying one at that. Living amongst a bunch of undergrads is going to be annoying. If it doesn't bother you than go for it - me, the combination of Tallahassee AND hoards of 18 and 19 year olds would spell the end.
I can tell you not to even consider The Commons, or the place next door to them (operated by the same douchebags). It used to be called The Village, but now it's Seminole something or other. My GF stuck me in a sublet for the summer at the Commons before I moved here while I was still in college at Cal State Fullerton. Worst experience of my life. I could write pages on it - but I've gone on far too long as it is. Just look The Commons up on one of those apartment rating websites. The stories are ridiculous and unbelievable - but they're true. They're all true.
