Peter Stark Producing Program 2013/2014

Hey everyone!

At last I can't sit it out all by myself any longer - I have applied to the Stark Program as well (first time), flew over in person in November, had my skype interview last night - honestly I dont even remember what I said, because I was so nervous. Now the wait is killing me, and when I saw that S6 applied from Switzerland as well, it didn't help my overall state of mind ;) Anyways, it's a sport and I hope one of us makes it in, better even: both :)

Regarding my 2nd interview: I was asked what I was doing right now, whether I wouldn't rather direct, where I see myself in 10 years and whether I had applied to any other unis. Finally they wnated to know if had any further questions, to which I replied no, because Henry had answered plenty of mine during my November interview (which i still had the mental presence to point out). Might have been a mistake, but alas, we'll see.

Cheers, I feel better now :)

Hello Ubiquitous, welcome! You should have joined earlier, this place makes the waiting much easier to bear :-)

Wow, you flew over to LA just for the interview? That definitely shows some dedication! Was Richard or the others impressed by that? Did you apply to other schools?

Fingers crossed for both you and S6!

Hey All!
Thanks for the encouraging posts I've been secretly reading these past few weeks. I haven't heard anything from USC... so starting to lose hope on an interview/acceptance. It's still nice to hear about other people's interviews!

Good luck to everyone!!!

Hey Coin,

It was Henry, and he did notice: He went like: So I hear you're coming from Switzerland, that's a pretty big trip' - I said: 'Well it's a really big opportunity, isnt it?'. I thought my first interview went really well.

My second interview went ok i guess, i wasnt as poignant, concise and complete as I wanted to be. But well, I wont bury my head in the sand before March 1.

I just found this!!! I'm so happy this chain exists! I'm nervous now too... I haven't been asked for a 2nd interview. Does anyone who applied last year know what the importance of the 2nd interview is? Is it possible to be accepted without having a 2nd?
I felt good about my application and my interview... but who knows! I went to USC's Film School for my Undergrad, so I'm a little worried they might find it redundant for me to attend this program. Did anyone else here go to USC?

I wouldn't be so emphatic about such things. Honestly, if there's one thing I've learned from these threads, is that it's impossible to predict the process.

Thanks. I'm going to keep my hopes up! It doesn't say anywhere that a 2nd interview is mandatory for admission. It just says you might get one if they need additional information.
We'll see...

Hey everyone, don't give up hope yet if you haven't heard about a second interview. I was just contacted today and have my interview tomorrow. I'm extremely excited but very nervous. I appreciate everyone else posting about their interviews. Hopefully all will go well!

Hey all you merry folks !
Welcome Ubi,thatgirl,Brando216,nyc222

Coin is absolutely right, this place makes the wait more bearable.

I am so glad to hear from so many of you. I don't think anyone should give up hope till THE day is upon us.

I am trying my best to stave off the burden of this wait by trying to act nonchalant. I have had a medical condition for the last 3 years that requires me to avoid stress, so the experience is coming in handy. (But I still think my head will explode on March 1)

As far as my second interview goes, in retrospective, I was not satisfied with my answers. It was all of 10 mins, and I think I just rambled on and on. I was pretty confident about my application...I had been working towards this for about 2 years...but I was too nervous in the interview.

Ah well...what's done is done. 7 days to go. What comes will come.

Cheers to you all,
Roaming

Hey everyone, just finished my second interview. Like everyone said it was super short and informal. Glad to be done, but it's a tough feeling knowing at this point there is nothing else I can do! Good luck this week.

Hey guys, keep your hopes up! I too try to keep my mind off it, but can't help wishing for the best for all of us here :-)

What helps me during these last days is thinking that shouldn't I get in again, it'll just mean that it wasn't meant to be, and I'm sure I'll find a way to reach my goals anyway! Ahaha sorry for the lame life lesson..

Just be prepared with a plan B. Do you guys have it? What is it? Mine is keep working where I am working now, at FOX in Rome.

Coins you work at FOX ! That's great. How long have you been working there? Were you asked why do you want to leave a job and go back to school.

I write computer code for an investment bank. Larry had asked me why do I want to quit a job 'people will kill to be in'. But once you look past the alluring veil of wall street, its nothing that dramatic.

My Plan B is to keep working at Plan A. So I intend to continue working (partly because as a foreign citizen I need a job to stay in the States), and dedicate my weekends to the creative arts.

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone involved in this thread. I've been reading it for weeks now and it has really given me a better understanding of the program, the admission process and has helped me get through the excruciatingly long wait! I don't know why I didn't sign up and contribute earlier! Judgement day in the past years seemed to be on February 22nd but apparently not this year! I can't wait til this is all over! Keep hanging in there everyone and thanks again! :)

Yesterday's Oscars was a good distraction from all the waiting.
Did you guys watch? Any successful predictions? or disappointments?

Note: I thought it might be a good distraction to discuss the oscars while we wait, esp since rumor is that decision for other USC programs are already out. (The decisions for Peter Stark is definitely March 1 though)

I watched the Oscars. A majority of my predictions were correct. I am very happy for Ann Hathaway's win. Loved Les Mis.

Best of luck to everyone this week on decisions.

I received my rejection today. It sucks, but I'm not too bummed out since USC was my third choice. I look forward to hearing from other programs in the next few weeks. Best of luck to you all!

I received my letter as well. Tried to stay optimistic even though I knew I never received an interview. Best of luck to everyone!

So letters are out - anyone gotten a call yet?

Ad Oscars: few surprises really. Waltz is brilliant, and him being a german speaking actor raises his sympathies with me, but I felt he recyled a lot from his basterds repertoire. So in a way i felt he got two oscars for the same role.
