I called Susan Carnival yesterday as well. I got ACCEPTED into NYU for DIRECTING! :D

I'm still doing back flips.

Congratulations!

@Insearchof_
Did you call her because you got an email asking you to make a call? Or because other people posted it here?

I'm not sure they have my correct telephone number but don't know if that is rude to call and ask.

To Felipetto, I received an email from Susan that told me call her.

To ruthiemadeleine, I would advise you NOT to call her if you didn't get the email. Susan said that April 1st was the "notification day" and I think we will still get our letters around that time, but because they have already made their decisions, she went ahead to email people earlier then expected.

Has anyone else (maybe the silent lurkers) been notified? I'm not sure what to think since some people have heard back. I just expected to see more notifications.

Congrats to those who have been accepted!

Hey Guys,

After flying out to NY for my interview from London, I can officially say it paid off. Spoke to Susan earlier today and I'm in.. MFA Directing.
I was given the Skype option, but I didnt' trust myself.

Anyhu, congrads to everyone that has been accepted and fingers crossed for all those waiting..

Bless!

Got accepted couple days ago after trying last year and being rejected! It's worth wile to try again. Go out there live, travel, read, write and make some more films. The application process is a great learning process and rejection is part of the deal! You can re-apply soon enough! So everybody who didn't get in this year: Don't give up, learn from it and try to find your personal voice, what makes you a special filmmaker.

Good luck & congrats to everyone else accepted.

@Glue, yes I actually did. I did use parts of my personal essay, but fleshed it out more and went a bit deeper. I also added a rough cut of a new film that I wrote/directed/produced last year and am still editing. I think it's important to be willing to learn and improve. (Not in order to get into filmschool, but in order to become a good filmmaker) I don't think it's a good idea to resubmit old material unless you're 100% sure you can't do any better (but usually you can ;o) )

Thanks assal! I def plan on redoing everything. It's going to be another long year, but I forsee lots of traveling intermixed with the writing and working.

So envious of your acceptance :) Congrats again!
