TISCH 2011 hopefuls lets nail-bite together!

Got my rejection too. I wonder if making to the second round means it's worth keeping the bulk of my app/portfolio and making minor tweaks, or if I should scrap the whole thing a begin anew for next year. Hmmm, guess I've got a while to think that over.

Good news is I got a PA job on a new Tom Hanks movie...

Nice!! That's almost better than getting into film school, plus you won't be forever in debt. Make the best of it! :)

Got a rejection e-mail :-(
but I've already had an interview for AFI and will have an interview for Columbia next week.
I'll do my best.
Good luck for all of you.

Sorry to everybody who heard back and didn't get in this year. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

It still appears that DW applicants haven't heard back, even though this board is a pretty small sample size.
By my count, there's no more than 3 or 4 people here who have stated they're applying for DW. It's pretty hard to make any predictions about the state of the applications process with such a small sample.

I got outright rejected from DW in Tisch.

But then I got this email saying, "Dear Applicant....the admissions review committee felt strongly enough about your application to refer you to the admissions review committee for the school's campus in Singapore"

So...I don't know what that means. Realistically, since I'm from Canada and of a middle class income, I can't go to Tisch (NYC or Asia), or any film school, so I was just applying to see what would happen. But if it's not too much trouble, I may apply to Tisch Singapore just to see what will happen...maybe one day I'll be able to say I got into Tisch :P

shrute, did they mention anything about rounds? Like "you got to the second round" or something like that?

Also when did you get this email?

That's unusual about Singapore. Are you a Canada native or were you born in another country?

Koquard, the rejection email/letter said nothing about rounds. It's dated March 2nd and says

"The faculty of the Dramatic Writing Program in New York City have informed us that a thorough review of your application for admission has been completed. They have taken into consideration many things: a creative portfolio or audition, or writing samples, letters of recommendation, and your academic history.

I deeply regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the Tisch School of the Arts for the coming academic year.

Thank you very much for considering our school and for the hard work you put into completing your application. Each department at the Tisch School of the Arts carefully weighs all factors from each and every applicant before deciding on the final class. Please know that because we receive more applications for admission than we have spaces, we cannot accept all the highly qualified students who seek entry.

I wish you the best of luck in your chosen career.

Sincerely,

Dan Sandford
Director of Graduate Admissions
Tisch School of the Arts"

As for the singapore email, I got that today (March 4th). I'm a Canadian native, so I thought it was strange too.

Thanks for sharing, shrute. You've helped clear up some real mystery surrounding the Dramatic Writing department. We had no idea they were even sending out emails. The Singapore stuff is definitely a puzzler. I didn't know the Singapore school even accepted US/Canada applicants.

Not sure if you have your heart dead-set on Tisch, but if you don't, I'm confident you'll be accepted somewhere else. I get the feeling a lot of people who frequent this board (especially the very few writers) are top tier.

I kind of like your lead actor. Most student short film comedy actors are cringe-worthy, but I bought him.

"Nothing. I'm not covering up my face like you're doing" I loled.
