TISCH 2011 hopefuls lets nail-bite together!

Hi everyone, I am a lurker coming forward looking for advice. I too received the rejection letter from NYU. I thought I had a strong application however I am wondering if asking for financial aid on the on-line application may have hurt my chances. I believe the question was how much outside funding are you expecting and how much do you expect from NYU? If I apply again I am wondering if I should keep my mouth shut until I get an acceptance then ask for aid. Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice you may have.

@Creativetype: I wouldn't worry about asking for financial aid. It shouldn't be a deterrent at all and if it was, I believe it's illegal.

I too received the mass, faceless email rejection from NYU. In retrospect, it was probably my weakest application and I knew it at the time. Luckily, it was lower on my list (but not by much) and I was far more interested in Columbia's program which I got an interview for!

Good luck to everyone and keep your heads up with whatever happens.

It doesn't matter. I told them I was gonna need financial aid on my application and I had my interview on Wednesday....and now...the wait continues...(o_O)

were these rejection emails or letters?
I haven't heard anything either.
Does that mean waiting list?

My guess is they're doing it in batches. You might just be in the next batch.

Hi guys!

Ok, so I have an interview next week! I was wondering if you guys have any tips... And specifically, what does one wear?? Perhaps some current students can attest to what the interviewees are walking around in during their tours usually?

THanks!

I haven't heard anything yet both of rejection and interview :-(
My interview for AFI was last month and got an e-mail from Columbia yesterday. Tisch...... not yet.

Hi Jason! Congrats on the interview! My outfit was pretty girly:) but there was a guy that interviewed after me that wore dress pants, slacks, a collar shirt w/a tie with a nice sweater pulled over it...He didn't looked over dressed either...I would say just make sure you look well groomed, presentable, and you are comfortable in what you are wearing...I would advise against jeans and a t-shirt...Save that for when you're on the set. I hope that helps. Good Luck! If we both get in maybe we'll share a class or two!

had my interview yesterday. now, to wait...

found that the panel was very fair. asked the hard -- but sensible -- questions and was kind in the process.

best of luck to all.

What did you apply for? Producing?

What did the panel ask specifically? (You gotta remember at least a few questions)

How many people on the panel?

Basically, let's have some tit for tat here. You're asking about the "nature of the questions" for your Columbia interview but not leaking any info regarding your NYU interview. Doesn't seem a fair trade. ;)

Firstly, kudos for Koquard & 't for t' encouragement.

Secondly - any news today? Anyone/anything? I just read through 2010 threads and it was pretty much March 1/2 rejections and then clinical death to the topic...

I really have no idea what to think (still not a word). Anyway, good luck.

Off-topic PS - it's just past midnight where I am now and I'm flying to nyc in a few hours. Hoping that the rejection email won't be the first thing to welcome me when I get back online...

I got an email late last week requesting an interview for Directing for late this week. I talked to someone on the phone, and they said that there were only a couple more people to schedule for interviews. Don't lose hope! Good luck everyone!

So I havent heard a word from Tisch besides them contacting me last week asking for another digital copy of my writing sample.... what does this mean.

thx fellows :)

for SherriStudios - I talked to an admissions guy in September and he told me that every year it's rougly a 100 people they invite for interviews
