To producers Program from Legal Background

Hello all,

I am new to this board, but have been impressed so far by the extremely helpful advice that is, generally, being given here. So, I thought I'd try my luck too.

I currently work as a junior lawyer in London at a well regarded entertainment firm, working in the Film Dept. I am looking at the available options in terms of graduate producers programs in the US - and trying to determine whether or not I would have a realistic shot at getting in, coming, as I do, from a legal background. Is this something that any of you have done/seen/experienced? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My undergrad degree was in Philosophy and I worked throughout university and afterwards (before going to Law School) in the music industry. As I said, I am now working in Film law, so the leap to a Producers Program doesn't seem that illogical to me. But I could be (very) wrong?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

From talking to some producers and execs, a bunch have told me that a legal background is really helpful with producing. One lawyer for ex is now an exec vp at CBS, another I talked to is exec vp of showcase. A friend of my prof's is a big entertainment lawyer who also has produced tv/film. They've been saying a bunch of their colleagues also have legal backgrounds (this made me feel better cause law school is where I'll be going if I can't afford to go to the film school I've been accepted to!)
If you can I'd start helping out with creative aspects of film/music on the side too.
