Urgent advice needed

Hey guys, I'm an international student from India. Recently, I've finished my bachelor's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I'm now trying to change my field to directing. But the problem is I want to apply for programs in USA specefically but for them you need Bonafide expeirence. Should I go for Bfa or an Mfa considering I'm a complete beginner. Also, most of the schools require creative portfolio which I'm short of. I have some short B rolls but they're no where close to an actual film. Also, everything at this point in ky city is under lockdown so I can't even get out of my house. I need some advice on the list of programs to apply which do not require creative portfolios and are actually good. My concentration is Directing. Please tell me the programs that have good reputation and whose deadlines have not approached yet as of 29th December. My ultimate goal is to settle in Usa and work as a film director.

Hey there,
First, check this link for the deadlines: Film School MFA Application Deadlines (Updated for 2021)
If you have zero film experience, I suggest you should search for film-related experiences around your area like internships and such and build your knowledge and experience from that. About what to choose between BFA and MFA, I would go for MFA since you can still apply for MFA degree even if you majored in different area other than film. If you go for BFA I assume it might take longer since you need to take SAT. Most MFA degrees do not require GRE which is awesome and you only need TOEFL scores to apply.

I'll recommend Olympic College's Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Filmmaking. We're currently accepting applications for Fall 2021. You can complete the six required bridge classes during the Winter, Spring, and Summer terms and be ready for the upper level classes by fall. It will give you time to get a portfolio together and get the requisite experience under your belt. In our current class, we have several students with the Bachelor degrees in a variety of subjects and two students with their MFAs. Contact me for more information and an application. tpeterson3@olympic.edu
