USC MFA - Film and Television Production - Fall 2026

I’m waitlisted and just got an email the other day titled The SCA Advantage, it writes “Congratulations on your acceptance to SCA!” but I have been checking the student portal and application page but cannot find any admission letter. Is it a spam? Am I really accepted?

I’m pretty sure it’s just a general email just to sell us on the school. Since a Fall waitlist is essentially a Spring acceptance anyways, that’s likely why it was written out like that. I feel like they have the fall admits and the fall waitlists on the same mass email thread since we’re all kinda in the same boat, just with some of us maybe having to wait a semester longer to get there.

When the official admissions letter comes in I’m sure it’ll be more individualized.

It makes a lot sense if they put it all in the same thread. As an international student I was worried because the process of obtaining all those legal documents takes forever. Since I didn’t see any similar emails discussed online, I got more worried if it’s a spam or mistake or something. Guess I’ll have to wait more patiently lol

Does anyone know the rough probability of getting off the waitlist for Fall 2026? Like anyone know how many applicants are typically waitlisted or any other info about it? Or does it just totally vary by year and there is no way of knowing?

The probablity or the number of waitlisted applicants or any other data have never been disclosed unfortunately. Basically all the waitlisted ones are admitted for the spring semester by default. I'm a wl student too and have already planning for my spring enrollment.

We do have admitted off wait-list stats on our admission statistics pages:
